If anything Sam Cooke has the least to do with hip hop.

Ray has one of the best soul singing voices of all time.

    Marvin ?
Marvin Gaye he had the least influence on music compared to the three. He is still great!

Sam Cooke influence gospel music before his soul music hits. He brought young people to gospel concerts while on the chitlin circuit. Young girls would out number all other attendance.
He also had his own record label and publishing company in the 60's.

He also had his own record label and publishing company in the 60's. Soul Stirrers with Jimmie Outler and Johnnie Taylor singing lead, The Valentinos (including Bobby Womack), Billy Preston, Mel Carter, The Simms Twins, Johnnie Morisette, L. C. Cooke (Cooke's younger brother), as well as Johnnie Taylor as a pop soloist.
He recorded 40 hits in the span of 7 years.

Sam Cooke is influential as a businessman as well. There just is no way to rationally pick Sam.

    Voice - check
    Lyrics - check
    Influence - check

He's one of the GOATs but he died before fully realizing his potential.

Duse sang some of the greatest love songs I've ever heard and was a direct mentor to Johnnie Taylor who is another one of the GOATs

He was one of the first artists to successfully transcend gospel into soul and he was ostracized from the gospel community for it. Dude is just a phenom.
