Live ? rap wasn't going at Pac. Pac dissed Mobb a little before It was written came out. Like a mouth before It was written dropped. So most likely Live ? rap was already recorded. And Nas was talking about Biggie with that 1 luv 1 Life so there can only be one king line. Jay-z 1st album hadn't even dropped at that time. You confused that song for the one on I Am where he said "? talking about they the king of New York. It's not about that"
P verse that he had on there is actually the rhyme that he originally had on LA LA. So P went at Pac(Westcoast)
Nas I don't know
Prodigy verse on live ? rap is one of the illest ive heard yo. Nothing to take away from Nas because thats one of the illest verse ive heard aswell. Theese ? went off yo
Prodigy was going at Snoop and the Dogg Pound on LA LA not Pac.

There was a time when Prodigy wanted to ? Tupac.
Well he did diss P pretty hard

Nas was spitting this whole album from the message to silent murder, the ? even rapped his ass off on nas is coming. Idk what you OGs had against this album

Interesting fact. The edited version of this has an alternate third verse. And you also don't hear that high pitch sound during the beginning and the hook. I personally prefer the edited version. -

I've been trying to memorize this and the second verse for years -

We didn't have anything against it. IWW went double plat and was baginin' everybody's whip. It was so dope even 'Pac thought Nas emerged as East Coast's ring leader a devoted his hardest bars for him on "Against All Odds", despite the fact that Nas and him broke bread before it dropped.
It was mostly white backpacking music reviewers who hated on IWW for being "too commercial" because it wasn't on that conscious ? like Illmatic. They thought Nas was "their" prodigy, not the street's. They thought wrong. And now they go back and give the ? a 10. It's laughable. But it's wack how the critic's reviews paints the public reputation of the album. Revisionist history through the lens of the white critic. ? was always a classic in my book. -

Second verse is GOAT:
I meant it, I represent it, descendant made of
Early natives that were captured and taught to think backwards
Trapped us in a ? 's psychiatric, it's massive
A Million Man March, alert the masses
Tan Clarks, Armani in small print upon my glasses
Don assassins, Armageddon
The wedding of a freak and a beast
Seven heads, got the righteous threatened
Life Was Written, the plot curves behind the settin'
Comprehend the grammar, Math we own
Are you the type of ? to shoot a leg to get your name known?
I flip the brain tone
? get hit and wrapped in plastic
The mic I strike in vain, givin' the pain of what a MAC is
What you with? Luchi or drama?
No sleep means insomnia
No need to check the clock, the streets'll time ya -

I don't hear how its better than Illmatic.
Not that it matters. Classic and I Gave You Power is one of hip hop's seminal works -
The first words on the album is
"Get em Rudy"..
I don't know why but that ? is hilarious to me..
After that, I use to call old white people Rudy..

Illmatic was a freestyle it was written was a song -
I like Affirmative Action and Watch Dem ?
-
I STILL THINK ILLMATIC IS BETTER, BUT I ALSO THINK ITS UNFAIR THAT THIS ALBUM DOESN'T GET RECOGNIZED AS A CLASSIC BC IT HAS A HARD ACT TO FOLLOW.
THIS ALBUM IS NAS BEST LYRICAL PERFORMANCE. THERE'S A REASON WHY THE LINER NOTES INCLUDES ALL THE LYRICS.
ALSO, I FEEL THE TRACKMASTERS GOT A BAD REP AT ONE POINT, HOWEVER...I THOUGHT THEIR PRODUCTION WAS ON POINT. -

NAS & MEGA WERE COOL UNTIL THEY STARTED PREPPING THE FIRM ALBUM IN 97 WITH DRE & TRACKMASTERS.
MEGA REJECTED A PRODUCTION DEAL OR SOME ? ...AND THEN NEXT THING YOU KNOW...NATURE REPLACES HIM. THAT PRETTY MUCH SET IT OFF.
HE SPEAKS ON IT ON LOVE IN LOVE OUT. -

Either way Jay wasn't on Nas radar. Jay wasn't claiming the King of NY title untill after Biggie got murdered. So no Nas wasn't dissing him in 96. -
