According to reports, a very nervous mother has done great harm to her newborn child. Reports say that 19-year-old South African woman named, Tinyiko Mkhesani, allegedly bleached her newborn baby’s skin until it began to fall off.
Reports say Mkhesani allegedly conceived a child with a boyfriend who did not truly believe the child was his own. Mkhesani’s reported boyfriend is said to be a number of shades whiter than her own complexion.
And according to reports, Mkhesani’s boyfriend told Mkhesani that if the child was born with dark skinned he would not accept nor raise the child as his own.
Reports say that Mkhesani’s birth happened to coincide with a time that the supposed father was out of the country working for a while. Reportedly Mkhesani began sending the supposed father photographs with heavy photography filters in order to make the little baby appear lighter skinned.
However, when the child’s assumed father was scheduled to come home, reports say Mkhesani was at a lost about what to do. The young woman reportedly became so desperate for her boyfriend to accept the darker skinned child as his own, she allegedly began bleaching the child with a bleaching product called Movate.
According to reports, when the child’s skin began to peel off as a reaction to the harsh chemicals, the young woman was forced to take the child to the hospital where she confessed to the bleaching. Mkhesani was immediately taken into custody by the authorities.

Over here that's purely psychological. Darker skinned slaves saw the lighter skinned slaves (typically your house negros) treated "better." The fact of the matter is a lot of the lighter complected slaves were children of ? . (I know I'm volunteering well-known info.) That thinking just got passed down from generation to generation.
I guess that post-traumatic slave disorder really is real. -

As someone of West Indian descent I agree... I see a lot of dark skinned (darka than me)Dominicans in my neighborhood that won't claim their black roots (most of their ancestors from Africa too) -
