post a track that sounds similar to juicy?
What about Mary J Blige and Method Man ....
in the history of hip-hop im sure there are tons of east coast r&B influenced songs
We can just use another B.I.G. song, "One More Chance (Remix)" with the DeBarge sample...
"Juicy Fruit" is pop/funk. The keyboardist is the same one from Parliment/Funkadelic...
"Big Poppa" uses "Between The Sheets" by The Isley Brothers with a funky worm added to give it that west coast sound...
That's what it's called! Yea, that ? is unmistakenly west coast... -
Biggie made a whole song rapping over West Coast beats. It makes perfect sense. The West Coast sound was selling and Puff wasn't trying to be underground, he was trying to make money.

That Above the Law, Black Superman beat is hard af -
That was the climate at the time. You'd be hard pressed in today's climate to find a brand new artist without some trap beat influences production wise because that's the vibe right now. 25 years ago it was southern cali's vibe.

LL's beats sounded east coast, Big's beats were undeniably west influenced.
Im only talking about his main most popular singles, the rest of his music definitely had a NY feel -
People tend to want to go with what Jamar says ....
but if you feel that way go head ... i don't see it -
A NY/eastcoast ? (Tupac) was the king of the west so go figure

How? when pac lived the majority of his life on the eastcoast n ny... Pac didn't move to Cali til like 88-89 so makaveli was bicoastal if anything -
When he repped West Side and dissed the biggest east coast rappers at the time .......
-
Big said he wanted ready to die to sound like a movie because of the chronic. I think puff an them took that formula and found their niche in R&B instead of those funk records that dre had been using since the 80s.

Makaveli said when he was throwing up the W it wasn't really for westside Cali it meant War & there was a Westside n nu Jerzey on the eastcoast n 96...& It makes sense for biggie 2 have a westcoast sound cuz another ny ? pac put him on 2 thug life -
2Pac would say one thing on Monday and on Tuesday he's saying the opposite. -

Not true cuz not only did pac have nu Jerzey Kat's throwing the W up n 96 repping westside makaveli also had Brooklyn Kat's like buckshot throwing the W up n 96 n Cali repping 1nation! -
