LMAO maybe not in that exact fashion, but yeah to an extent it does happen. I'm old enough to remember how Pac was received before he passed/secretly moved to Cuba and folks used to hate A LOT. Very different story by November of 1996 though -

i remember when Big L was alive i used to constantly tell people how i thought he had the illest punchlines. people would laugh at me. they would say big L stood for big loser. I would play lifestylez ov da poor and dangerous and folks would tell me to turn that ? off.
a few years later when he died these SAME PEOPLE would be talking about he is the goat and the best ever, and if only he had lived he'd be up there with biggie.
I've seen similar things with ODB and Big Pun. Lots of people were lukewarm to their music when alive, but when dead, they all of a sudden were the best thing ever.
I too don't like lwhen fans do this, if you always liked a dude, cool. but don't become super big fan talking about GOAT and all this ? , when you wasn't saying that when they were alive. -
