Nearly four years after the Centennial Hill Bar and Grill shooting left three dead, including local rapper Glenn “Doe B” Thomas, the three men allegedly responsible for the shooting will go on trial.

The trial for the alleged shooters — Darius Thomas, Taboris Mock and Jason McWilliams — is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Sept. 25 at the Montgomery County Courthouse, one year after the three were indicted by the grand jury.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Lloria James said she expects the trials to continue into the following week.

The Dec. 28, 2013, shooting claimed the lives of Kimberle Johnson, Timnarius Hamilton and Doe B and caused injuries to several others, including Thomas.

According to the January 2014 bond hearing testimony from Montgomery Police Department Detective Andy Magnus, the shooting escalated from a dispute between Thomas and Doe B as well as a separate dispute between McWilliams and Doe B involving a bag of money and jewelry.

Doe B was signed to Grand Hustle Records by Atlanta-based rapper T.I. in 2012.

The nearly four-year delay in getting the case to trial has been attributed to the extensive backlog of drug and homicide cases in Montgomery County

Mock and McWilliams are both charged with reckless murder of Hamilton and three counts of first degree assault for injuries to Clarence Young Jr., Keldric Landon and Ferro Bennett.

In addition to the above counts of assault and reckless murder, Thomas is also charged with capital murder for allegedly killing Johnson and Doe B. Thomas faces two alternative charges of murder meaning that if the jury doesn’t find Thomas guilty of killing both Johnson and Doe B, it can find him guilty of killing one of them.

The Centennial Hill Bar and Grill building, located at 954 Highland Avenue, has not had a business in it since the shooting. The city had allowed Centennial Hill to open in 2013 after a six people were shot in the building while it was the Rose Supper Club in Dec. 2012. The Centennial Hill's owner voluntarily gave up the bar's liquor license following the shooting.

The month after the Centennial Hill shooting, citizens called for the demolition of the bar. Instead the City Council has refused to allow any new businesses to occupy the building since.

McWilliams, Mock and Thomas are currently being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

McWilliams was freed on bond in December 2016, but was arrested again after being found in possession of more than a pound of marijuana, according to court records.
