Jean Grae is dope, but she isn't on Lauryn's level. What seperates Lauryn from Jean is what's behind the words. The prime example of this is "Mystery of Iniquity". From a lyrical standpoint, Lauryn had imagery, metaphors, a concept, and creativity in that song.

I do think Jean Grae has the better flow and Lauryn has the better delivery.

Don't forget about The Score, LH and the production saved that album. The fact that Grae ain't a mainstream artist doesn't help her in this case. .
    Lauren EASILY

    Mystery Of Iniquity>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jean Grae
LOL, is this a joke? Jean Grae isn't even good. Nicki > wackass Grae.

FF to 0:51 and you'll hear a verse that Jean Grae couldn't dream about writing.

    Lauryn is the better artist.

I have given Jean Grae many listens, she just aint that nice...
L Boogie WAS an dope MC... I can bump the Score and the Miseducation...
I don't even bump songs ft Jean...
how about Lauryn Hill is just a more talented artist than Jean Grae. (i'm not saying Jean Grae is wack btw)

LOL, I actually voted for Jean, but it's not that farfetched to say LH is better.

    This thread needs a poll.

    ROFL.

Those quotes MEAN nothing, ? ...especially when half of them are giving Jean Grae props, simultaneously.

Why are you even in here? Instead of worrying about Jean's greatness, you need to be more concerned about how Lauryn's broke, unemployed ? tune ass is gonna pay for that next visit to psyche ward, stupid.

Better to be making songs with Lil B, than to be regulated to making obscure, album tracks for animated movies that did NOTHING at the box office. ROFL. Yea, she lost herself.

Does L Boogie even have a record deal anymore, ? ?

Phonte verse>>>> Roses really smell like boo boo ooo oooo

    [Phonte]
I was looking at your photograph amazed how I favored you
I remember being young wanting to play with you
Cause you was a wild and crazy dude
And now I understand why my momma couldn't never stay with you
From the roots to the branches to the leaves
They say apples don't fall far from the trees
I used to find it hard to believe
And I swore that I would
Always hold my family as long as I could
    But damn
Our memories can be so misleading
    It's misery
I hate to see history repeating
Thought you were the bad guy
    But I guess that's why
    me and my girl split
    And my son is leaving
I did chores, did bills, and did dirt
But I swear to ? I tried to make that ? work
'Til I came off tour to an empty house
With all the dressers and the cabinets emptied out
    I think I must've went insane
Thinking I was in love, but really in chains
Trapped to this girl through the two-year old who carried my name
    I tried to stop tripping
But yo, I couldn't and the plot thickened
    That ? affected me, largely
Because I know a lot of people want me
    To fail as a father
And the thought of that haunts me
Especially when I check my rear-view mirror
And don't see him in his car seat
So the next time it's late at night
and I'm laid up with the woman I'mma make my wife
talking 'bout how we 'gon make a life
I'm thinking about child support, alimony, visitation rights
Cause that's the only outcome if you can't make it right
? off with your children feeling the same pain
So, Pop, how could I blame cause you couldn't maintain
    I did the same thing
    The same thing

From what I see, L Boogie is more marketable, but Jean is just as much of a monster on the mic and each in different songs get it better then the other

There's really no contest to be had. Jean wins based on her body of work alone. She has skills lyrically and she has relatable content.

Lauryn is nice but she's not seeing Jean. Queen Latifah >>>>>>>>>>> Lauryn Hill.

this is a real dope drop

    Flow was mediocre.

lol @ Jean Grae having "greatness" when she only has one fan on the entire IC. Punisher, you're all alone dawg. Give it up. Everyone wants L-Boogie, no one wants the nobody.

Lauryn Hill on the Score WAS better than Jean. Then she dropped an album full of R&B and Soul music with no raps. Then she followed it up with that Unplugged joint.

Hip Hop in the 90's was so desperate for credibility and mainstream respect that we called it a Hip Hop album for some reason.

    In reality

Jean > L. Hill based on albums and solo rap songs

Please. Lauryn Hill and Outkast were popular when i was just a little kid. I like good artists. I take everything into account. Lyrically, I give Jean Grae the edge. As a complete artist, Jean Grae is not touching Lauryn

Do you deny Budden and Grae have incredible ability on the mic with presense and technical skills? What sets L Boog apart by the way is her ability to sing and play an instrument, it makes her more versatile
