U dont like Landry Fields? I think dude is solid I would take him ova Bogans anyday of the week he's only a rookie I see him getting better this year. If im the Bulls I dont want washedup VC or his crippled ass cousin T-Mac. Or any other washed up superstar with abbreviations. But if I had 2 chose of course Vince he still has a lil left in the tank. I hope the Bulls go after Butler, Affalao, Richardson somebody that has ligaments in their knees

6 years ago Vince would be a huge piece to a team.. .. ? maybe 8 years ago.. He had a habit for playing good every other year after a coupel seasons with the Nets ? at one point.. after reddick found his groove in the league he was a bigger contributing factor to Orlando than VC was.. I wanna see where VC's mental is at

NBA Free Agents: Jason Richardson Top Shooting Guard On Open Market

Jason Richardson is the top free agent shooting guard in the NBA this season. He regressed a bit with the Orlando Magic this past season, but the veteran still has what it takes to play a vital role on a good team.

Jason Richardson is an unrestricted free agent this season, and while the Orlando Magic have sent signals that make it seem like they would like to re-sign the veteran shooting guard, anything is possible during the lockout-shortened offseason. Richardson is now on the wrong side of 30, but he's still able to put the ball in the basket.

Richardson might not be the best shooting guard in the NBA, but the Orlando Magic swingman is the best shooting guard that isn't restricted on the market today. That ranking, by the way, is courtesy of Tom Ziller from his post featuring the top NBA free agents.

he Bulls have indicated that they are interested in signing Richardson, too, but it's unclear exactly what they're willing to pay to upgrade their wing positions. If they're willing to overlook some of Richardson's deficiencies, he might be the answer to pushing the Bulls over the ? once and for all.

    Warriors eye Tyson Chandler

Dallas Mavericks free agent Tyson Chandler will meet face-to-face this week with officials from the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and New Jersey Nets, according to sources close to the situation.

Negotiations with the Mavericks have stalled, prompting Chandler to tell ESPN.com on Wednesday night: "I really think I'm going to be on a new team come training camp."

With little movement in the talks in the days since, sources say that Golden State, Houston and New Jersey have emerged as the most serious suitors for Chandler, who is widely credited with changing the defensive culture in Dallas and combining with Mavs mainstay Dirk Nowitzki to spark the franchise to its first-ever championship.

The Rockets and Nets also remain at the forefront of the chase for Denver Nuggets free agent Nene -- along with the Indiana Pacers and Nuggets themselves -- and are likely to meet with the Brazilian big man as well in the coming week. Sources stressed that the Mavericks, meanwhile, continue to keep an open dialogue with Chandler in hopes that a deal can still be struck.

The NBA notified teams over the weekend that direct contact between team executives and free agents is permissible as of Monday at 10 a.m. ET. Free agency is scheduled to begin in earnest Friday, which the NBA has announced as the first day teams will be allowed to make signings and trades, pending ratification Thursday of the tentative labor agreement between owners and players struck Nov. 26.

Sources said Sunday that the teams involved are most likely to make visits to Chandler as opposed to the 29-year-old traveling to the various cities. With free agency so compressed this month after the 149-day lockout, most top free agents are expected to adopt the same approach as opposed to traveling extensively before training camps open, which is also scheduled for Friday.

The Mavericks, according to team sources, have always viewed re-signing Chandler as their No. 1 offseason priority, but it's believed they want to do a deal in the $10 million range annually, in hopes that they can keep maximum financial flexibility in the summer of 2012 to have the requisite salary-cap space to bid for top free agents for the first time in the Mark Cuban era.

Sources say Dallas is determined to make a run at Dwight Howard, Chris Paul or North Texas-native Deron Williams next summer and fears that matching the offers Chandler is expected to receive from the Warriors, Rockets and Nets will take the Mavericks out of the market for the big names before the process even starts.

As one of the league's oldest teams and with Nowitzki as its lone certifiable All-Star, Dallas privately concedes that it has to start looking to the future by trying to find a younger cornerstone player -- like Williams -- who can help Nowitzki transition to more of a co-starring role. The Mavs' big quandary, however, is that the presence of Nowitzki on the roster in July 2012 without Chandler as his frontcourt sidekick might not be enough to tempt the league's top free agents, given that Nowitzki will be 34 next summer.

One source with knowledge of Williams' thinking, for example, told ESPN.com earlier this week that the All-Star guard was unlikely to choose the Mavericks in free agency -- despite his local ties and appreciation of Nowitzki's game -- without Chandler in place as well.

The Nets are likewise chasing Nene and Chandler hard in hopes of upgrading their roster sufficiently to convince Williams to re-sign with them next summer before the team's long-awaited move to Brooklyn.

ESPN.com reported earlier this week that the Nets are prepared to offer Brook Lopez and two future first-round picks, while also absorbing the onerous contract of Hedo Turkoglu in hopes of convincing the Orlando Magic to deal them Howard, but the Nets have also forged ahead with the pursuit of Nene and Chandler to ensure that they land a top-flight big man, figuring that signing either one would also only enhance their collection of trade assets to offer the Magic for Howard.

The Warriors might have to use the forthcoming amnesty clause on guard Charlie Bell or even center Andris Biedrins to create enough cap space to win the bidding for Chandler, but they arguably rank as the strongest current threat to sign him away if the talks between the Mavericks and Chandler don't take a U-turn. Awash in scorers, Golden State is looking for a defensive-minded anchor to complement Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry and David Lee, establishing Chandler as the best fit in Oakland of the available centers. Houston, meanwhile, simply needs a top-flight center after the retirement of Yao Ming and continues to press hard for Nene or Chandler.

Chandler maintains that staying in Dallas has always been his first choice, but he expressed disappointment in Wednesday night's interview that the communication between the sides was minimal from the end of the NBA Finals in mid-June and the June 30 deadline for a contract extension. The Mavericks maintain that they were reluctant to talk about an extension before July 1 because no one knew how drastic changes to the NBA's collective bargaining agreement would be at that time.

The best estimates in circulation suggest that the Mavericks would only have roughly $5 million in cap space for the summer of 2012 if they match the offers Chandler is getting on the open market, even if Dallas' other free agents -- such as Caron Butler and Jose Juan Barea -- are all let go. To have the needed cap space to bid for a player of Paul's or Williams' caliber in July 2012 if Chandler is retained, Dallas would likely need to set free either backup center Brendan Haywood or forward Shawn Marion through the amnesty clause, bid farewell to 2012 free agent-to-be Jason Terry and perhaps even be forced to send away younger prospects like Corey Brewer or Rodrigue Beaubois in trades that bring back no salary.

Chandler, 29, was acquired by the Mavericks in July 2010 in a deal with the Charlotte Bobcats, co-headlined by Erick Dampier, but he was widely billed at the time as a consolation prize after Dampier's cap-friendly contract failed to get Dallas in the bidding for the league's marquee free agents (Miami stars LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh among them) through various sign-and-trade offers.

Yet Chandler wound up meshing with Nowitzki better than anyone anticipated, supplying length, athleticism, rim protection and a brand of vocal leadership that no big man who previously lined up alongside the eventual NBA Finals MVP had ever provided in Dallas.

After missing nearly 70 games over the previous two seasons through injury, Chandler wound up playing in 74 regular season games and finished third in the league's Defensive Player of the Year voting. In the Western Conference finals, Chandler helped Dallas to a 4-1 series win over the same Oklahoma City Thunder team that traded for him in February 2009 and then rescinded the trade one day later because of concerns about a toe injury

Travis Outlaw broke his hand hitting a punching bag...

I wonder if the Nets can legally void his contract without having to amnesty him. I remember when Monta Ellis got into a motorcycle accident, the GS could've voided his contract, but decided not to. Wonder if we can do that to Outlaw, I don't wanna see him in a Nets uniform comes Christmas time lol.

LAS VEGAS — Former NBA star Antoine Walker was sentenced Tuesday to five years of probation and ordered to pay $770,050 in restitution to three Las Vegas casinos after pleading guilty to failing to repay gambling debts.

Walker and his lawyer declined to comment after his brief appearance before Clark County District Court Judge Valorie Vega.

Walker has repaid some of his Las Vegas casino debts since his arrest in July 2009 in Lake Tahoe, where he planned to play in a celebrity golf tournament.

The felony charge could be dismissed if Walker fully repays the remaining debts incurred in 2008 and 2009 at the Planet Hollywood, Red Rock Casino Resort and Caesars Palace casinos, prosecutor Samuel Bateman said. Walker faces a year in prison if he violates probation.

Walker, 35, starred on Kentucky’s 1996 NCAA national title team and was a three-time All-Star with the Boston Celtics before winning a 2006 NBA championship with the Miami Heat. He also played in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2008.

Walker filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation in 2010. He played last year with the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League.

    Grant Hill

Perhaps the most coveted veteran role player on the market is small forward Grant Hill. For many years Hill has been a very serviceable, and at times spectacular, player in the NBA.

At this point in his career money likely means very little, so he will probably be willing to sign with the contender of his choice on a mid-level exception. That bodes well for the Heat as they have to be one of the more attractive situations for any veteran looking to get a ring.

While the Heat may seem set in terms of perimeter players, Hill bring a certain experience and savvy play that Miami's other bench players don't. This, of course, could be contingent upon the Heat using their amnesty cut on guard/forward Mike Miller who was a disappointment last season.

Even if Miami keeps Miller, however, it will be able to use its full mid-level exception. Hill wouldn't be more than a role player with the Heat, but he does everything well and has seen it all as a player in the NBA, so he would be an invaluable asset in Miami's search for a title.

The Los Angeles Clippers have been aggressive in their pursuit of New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul, but their initial offer to Hornets general manager Dell Demps did not include either shooting guard Eric Gordon or restricted free agent center DeAndre Jordan, according to a source with knowledge of the discussions.

The Clippers, Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics have been the most aggressive teams pursuing Paul, but so far the Clippers have been the least desperate to land him because they believe they are set up to win in the short and long term if they can re-sign Jordan, extend Gordon this year and Blake Griffin next year and upgrade at the small forward position either through free agency or with Minnesota's unprotected first round pick in 2012.

The Clippers are reluctant to part with either Gordon or Jordan in any trade for Paul, the source said, because Paul hasn't given any assurances he will re-sign with them following the 2011-12 season and owner Donald Sterling is still deeply stung from the way forward Elton Brand burned the Clippers in 2008 by signing with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The franchise has just begun to dig itself out of the crater Brand's unexpected defection left behind. Point guard Baron Davis, whom Brand recruited to join him in L.A., was shipped off to Cleveland last February at great cost, the Clippers 2011 first-round pick that ended up as the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

Without assurances that Paul will commit to the franchise long term, the Clippers are reluctant to break up their core group of young players or future draft picks they feel are essential to convincing Griffin to sign an extension with them next summer.

Paul has let it be known that signing free-agent center Tyson Chandler would increase his chances of re-signing with any team that trades for him, the source said, but at this point the Clippers have no intention of pursuing Chandler because is expected to command a deal of between $12-15 million per season, significantly more than Jordan, whom they are optimistic they can re-sign for a five-year deal between $7-9 million per year.

The Clippers' initial offer to New Orleans did include future draft picks, the source said. They also indicated they would be willing to absorb the contracts of players like small forward Trevor Ariza.

While Gordon and Jordan are obviously the Clippers' most desirable trade assets, the team also has former first-round picks Eric Bledsoe and Al-Farouq Aminu, the expiring contract of center Chris Kaman and Minnesota's unprotected first-round pick in 2012.

Paul has been the Clippers primary trade target. While the team also has interest in Orlando's Dwight Howard, it has yet to engage any substantive discussions with the Magic, the source said. Still, at this point Paul is the Clippers' primary target because his game would mesh better with Griffin and Gordon than Howard.

No trades can be completed until a new collective bargaining agreement is passed by the players association and the owners.

Under the new collective bargaining agreement agreed upon by the owners and players earlier this month, teams are allowed to waive one player from their team and remove that contract from their salary cap. Team’s will now soon be allowed to place bids on the waived player during the amnesty waiver process.

Would rather give Nene big money than Tyson Chandler

I'll say it like this, if I woke up on Friday morning and found out we gave Nene $60 million I would say, alright that's an overpay, but he's here and I could live with it.

If I woke up and found out we signed Chandler to anything over $45 I would freak, especially because I fully expect someone to give him $60 to $70 million over 4 years.

Chandler's a really good player, but he's always injured it seems and I question his drive after getting one last fat contract when he's already won his ring.

Seems like a guy who would be sort of content.

Maybe I'm totally off on that, IDK, it's just a weird feeling I get with him.

And Nene is just a bull and an extremely underrated defender himself.

I have the same damn feeling and I want my team to sign him. Still theres something about those players that play the way we thought they could since they entered the league during their contract year that throws me the ? off(word to Erick Dampier). If healthy and motivated like he was last year he is clearly the best center for a team who needs a defensive anchor and some heart in the locker room, but I just have a funny feeling. Gasol is the prize out of the centers to me but he's not going anywhere....

We averaged the third most points in the league last season and that was mainly because of lowry and martin....
