Feel you on the bolded... but hey remember dude's hands were tied by the 'suits' on this album and some of the songs on the tape were to raw for main stream consumption
True. They would never have allowed heat like Cops Keep Firing on that ? . Association was a banger, too. Wish that joint made the album. -

That song was the truth. Nas' rapid-fire flow was sick on that one. -

Im a Nas fan but I thought untitled lacked a lot of cohesion. For a concept album it jumped around a lot.
But I ? with that Sly Fox joint and the Queens get the money joint. -
Not a classic, that word is thrown around waaaaaay too much, I don't know if any rapper has two classics. Classic album = every song on it classic.
Untitled is a great album, one of the best in past few years. -

That's an interesting point, but I don't like every song on ready to die, but that's a classic to me because as a whole the album great. -

Sometimes impact of an album can make it classic, just like in the case of RTD. Untitled didn't have nearly that kind of impact. -

I agree with you I don't think unintitled is a classic either. -
Nas, Com, Jay and Rakim are all one of my fav artists, bu all of those albums are not classics, I'm not in a mood to give full opinion why not but now you've given me an suggestion for Jamaica "What does define classic" thread for Reason debate.

it's a great album but has too many weak tracks and is a step down from Hip Hip is Dead. i'd more lean towards calling HHID a classic but that's just me. other albums can have weak tracks but the ones on Untitled especially compromise the concept of the album.

Untitled >>> HHID (IMO his weakest album)... -
How was Untitled a concept album? I don't even think Nas intended it to be a concept album. Yes, it has a theme, but that hardly makes it a concept album. It Was Written is more of a concept album than Untitled. There isn't a storyline or concept that ties the songs together. I don't find HHID to be much of a concept album either.
I don't think Untitled is a classic, but it's easily a 4/5 album. It ranks behind Stillmatic, Illmatic, Distant Relatives, , The Lost Tapes and It Was Written and ? 's Son. -

I wish he would've traded that song with Letter To The King on Game's LAX album. That would've supported the theme. But the label needed some tracks for radio and all they had was Hero and Make The World Go Round. -

yeah i agree, he was just off lyrically in HHID, and thats the only time i'd say that. untitled is close to classic and easily the best album released that year. -

Its a classic.

Untitled is a great album with a lotta deep songs that get stuck in your head. But there's also some weak songs. HHID has less weak songs but I still consider Untitled a better album because of all the great tracks on it.

Streets Disciple could have been a classic if he took the best songs from both cd's and and kept it to one disk.
There was way too much filler on there. Especially the ? with Kelis. He could have got rid of all that filler and made a strong 1 cd.
But thats Nas for you.
