The fact is Obama is no different than anyone else who held that office and i don't know why he should still be treated as anything but just that.

    stop, wait,hold!

art thou really saying that Obama has been "treated" the same as any other President?

that the constant threats on his life equals to those of Bush, who as mentioned sent 4000 plus troop to die in not 1 but TWO a senseless wars (both unpaid for by the way)

why do you have to go back to past presidents and talk about threats on his life? but if you want to play that game every president who has been assasinated or had an attempt on their life was white so that bs you are bringing up is just that. and bush was slammed as a president in every form of media, he was a running punchline. and he deserved alot of it. and he did some ? up ? . so yes, in that regard he's no differfent than any other man to hold that office, and neither is obama.

The White kid that killed 20 kids (19 White) is the one who pulled people's kids into this... SMH at the ? logic being applied in this argument

smh @ at it taking children being murdered for obama to even begin to try and act high and mighty about gun control. He came from Chicago and as much as he ignores it, i'm sure he has a pretty good idea about gun violence in america. He began his term in 2008 and he waits 5 years to bring up a serious discussion on gun control? FOH. Why does he need to surround himself w/ little kids and their letters about guns when he could have just picked any of the thousands of adults and children in his former city who lost people to gun violence. But no that's not polarizing enough to the public. He's gotta wait for white kids to get murdered before he says enough is enough.

What? Obama has always been big on gun control. Hell that was one of the things southern whites were trying to use against him when he was running for president again. They were constantly trying to paint the picture that if he was re-elected, everyone would lose their right to own guns. Obama has already gone on record as saying that he wished that it were possible for guns to be taken away altogether, but he understands it's a constitutional right and he has not plans on trying to take away such rights.

bruh, when has he been this vocal about gun control legislation? i'm not talking about in interviews and ? like that. I'm talking about when in the last 5 years has he and the white house really been out there making their case for legislation? when have they been on the talk shows pushing for legislation? when have they formed a 'task force' to look at gun laws in this way? You know he hasn't, and you can list reasons why he hasn't but nothing changes the fact that the push he's making right now is something that he has not done before. And the reason he is making the push because its the perfect time to do so. This is the best chance he has b/c of the shootings and because he believes americans views on gun control might be shifting towards his favor. and he knows there is no better time than now. and thats part of being a politician. And i'm aware of the perception he's carried since running for president that "he gone take away are guns. osama gonna ban guns if he gets president" and all that. But please dont insult anyone by acting like he's ACTUALLY been pushing for this stuff all along in the way he is now.

When else during his tenure were 20 children murdered by a crazy gunman. Any leader's motivations are going to be swayed by the current events and feelings of the people. Gun control has been a notable topic for Obama since the 2008 election. It's just that there has been so much other ? going on that it took a backseat. But now after mass shooting after mass shooting, he doesn't really have the luxury to to keep it on the backburner. So he's coming out and making a move. That's what leaders do. I'm not really sure what point you're making. His opinions on gun control have always been clear. He hasn't changed anything that regard. All he has done is moved that issue up in the order of issues that needs to be handled and he's done that largely because of public sentiment which is to be expected given that he is a servant of the people.

the NRA presents a legitimate point that sheep will refuse to acknowledge because of their emotional bias

most of the people preaching gun control are naturally afraid of firearms and tend to lack basic knowledge

if you believe there is a such thing as an "assault weapon", then you are one of the uninformed voters who really have no business speaking on gun control

it's fair to question why the average citizen is not able to have a degree of protection similar to politicians that work for us...............being a political figure doesn't entitle you to be treated like royalty

^^^^your post is a prime example of what is wrong with the politics in America right now

you chose to use a straw man argument and it wasn't even a good one to make

who is upset over being required to show an ID?

Yup... I'm backing down from the big tough internet guy that can't understand sarcasm...

BTW see that you served... respects your service... disagrees with your points...

For the record... the same politicians (republicans, beholden to the NRA) that fought tooth and nail to have poor and old people jump through hoops (background checks) to be legally registered to vote, now are opposed to people going thru background checks to purchase guns. To me it's common sense... I got no problem getting a background check to a weapon... and I also don't feel the need to have an AK or and AR... but that's just me...

As for the ad, to which this thread was originally about... The ? is over the line... I've never once seen any other children of any sitting President put front and center in a political discussion. But since this President is Black, all the accepted rules of Political decorum go out the window. That's the ? . Again. You're entitled to your opinion on guns and I can respect that but I can't back the garbage that the NRA is selling on this.
