I hear a lot of talk about dude being a GOAT and all this stuff and I heard this dude at the gym talking about how Doc gon come up with something to come back on the Knicks. Now maybe it's because I was pretty much focused on one team at the time...but I don't remember hearing about this ? until Ray and KG got to Boston, and then he became this master tactician and strategist out of nowhere. So then I checked his coaching career and lo and behold dude had never touched the 2nd round of the playoffs until the Big 3 was formed. I'm not saying dude is a bad coach, but I'm not convinced of all this ? about him bieng up there with Pop and whatnot. Speak on it

The fact that he got washed pierce still playing somewhat decent is a marvel in itself.
*waits for axel* -
YesGood coach but been saying he's overrated
-
No
He's got 400 plus wins under his belt, a title and he won coach of the year after nearly leading that Magic squad to the playoffs, and that was pre-T-Mac their stars were Daryl Armstrong, Pat Garrity & Michael Doleac. -
YesYes, dude put Brandon Bass on Lebron.... on purpose SMH.
-

I'LL PUT IT LIKE THIS..HE'S BETTER THAN SPOE'! -

273 wins before the Big 3 (take one off because he got fired in 03' for going 1-10 with the Magic if you want to)
314 after Ray Allen and KG have joined the Celtics and Rondo stepping up his game.
Just dropping the stats -
yes....them ? lost like 18 in a row the year before the big 3 were formed
-
he never started Luke

da same year when Pierce was injured nd Brian Scalebrine nd Telfair was in da startin lineup people love to omit dat -
IMO. in the nba a coach is as good as his players are. Doc was struggling before the big 3 came . He got talent and he won. Same with the coach down in Miami.
-
NoNah, you can tell how his team executes plays. Hell, he ain't got the most youthful and talented bunch
-
nd to answer da thread idk. Doc aint a X's nd O's guy mainly a motivator nd Thibs played an equal part in our 08 ship. He's not a bad coach, high amount of wins nd was coach of da year in Orlando so he wasnt all a product of da big 3. But he aint on Popavich's level

Kinda overratedIn a sense he is overrated because a lot of people put him up there with Pop but at the same time he is a good coach.
I would take Pop and Thibs hands down over Doc. I rate Doc in the same group as Carlisle. -

Not even a debate -
Kinda overratedHe is kinda but team hasn't been the same since Thibs left..
-
NoEvery coach in the NBA needs star players...Except maybe Larry Brown.
-
Kinda overrated2nd best coach in the NBA, some people say the best..only reason i said kinda
-
No.....just his current squad
-
Doc Rivers has never been a prominent HC in my mind, but surprisingly gets an older Celtics team in the playoffs continuously.
-
Kinda overratedOutstanding coach... but he was highly overrated by some Boston fans.
I remember one silly ass ? in here talkin about he was better than Phil da GOAT. lmfao -
Whoa, who in Hell said Rivers was better than Jackson :-O
-
I mean dude really didn't get going until KG and Ray Allen got to Boston. I just don't believe all the slurping cats been doing of him ever since 07'
-
I mean he won Coach of the year for going 41-41 and missing the playoffs. The squad was wack but still. Coaches get harped on for less
-
NoDOC is a great coach
-
As much as I hate the Celtics, I wish he was the Lakers coach. Its not Doc's fault that management get's rid of the talent and don't want to pay better or younger players. These fools wanted to trade Rondo smh. Give him the Thunder and they would be a dynasty.
