There's a restaurant in Chicago selling a "wonut" — a blessed, glorious union of waffle and donut — and we can all just die happy now, because LOOK AT THAT ? PICTURE. Humanity is never topping this.

The wonut comes to us courtesy of all that is right and good in the universe, and more directly, courtesy of Chicago's Waffles Cafe. Apparently, wonuts are deep-fried in vegetable shortening because the word "vegetable" makes it healthy, then dipped in sugar, marshmallow, maple, or chocolate glazes and topped with pretty much any of the regular toppings you see on pedestrian donuts. There's also apparently a whole wheat variety (WHY), and some utter, incomparable genius decided to make red velvet and green tea versions, because sometimes, life is beautiful and we can all ride to Flavortopia on a magic carpet made of unicorn farts.

We already knew waffles were inestimably and in every conceivable way superior to pancakes — this just proves it further. It's science facts, and you can't argue with science facts; that's why this concoction looks delicious with waffles, but it would look like a stretched-out hobo sock if you tried to do it with pancakes. I know I've said a lot of mean things about you in the past, Chicago, but man, you're really making up for it with this. I take it all back. I'm even willing to give deep-dish another shot if it means the promise of a wonut afterwards.

A Chinese man kidnapped his pregnant 21-year-old girlfriend, tied a gas tank to her back and ignited when police turned up to try and rescue her. Li Moulian, 36, dragged Xu Fan, 21, out of her bed and bundled her into the back of his car before carrying out the vicious attack in Huizhou City of Guangdong Province, southern China. The pair ended up side-by-side in hospital beds as surgeons battle to save their lives, but, despite the mother-to-be's horrific injuries, her unborn baby managed to survive.

She fell pregnant by mistake after a one-night-stand, but the pair decided to stay together and moved into to a house in Mazhuang New Village.
Sixth months into the relationship, the pressure seems to have been too much for the father-to-be. Moulian attacked Fan while she was asleep and dragged her out of her bed, telling her he planned to ? her. He bundled her into the car and drove around the town before police were able to spot him. They also received calls from disturbed neighbours who saw the young woman being dragged across the street. The girl was pulled from the car by police, but officers were forced to extinguish flames on her body. Both the man and women suffered life-threatening burns and were taken to hospital. The pair ended up in the same operating room side-by-side as surgeons worked to save the lives.

After rescuing the girl and extinguishing the blaze, police then rescued the man who suffered more severe burns as a result, and who is not expected to survive. The young woman's family said they had warned her against getting involved too quickly with Li Moulian, from Lufeng City located in the southeast of Guangdong Province.
Her uncle Wu Chin, 47, said: 'We had warned her that she needed to know more about him before deciding to spend her life with him, it seems sadly the warnings were true as he clearly has mental problems. 'To suddenly accuse her in the middle of the night trying to ? his parents shows he is obviously severely paranoid.

'It is a bad start in life for the child as well with the father having obvious mental problems.' Police spokesman Tao Hou, 36, said: 'As the police car with a siren approached the car with the man and woman inside, and another blocked off its escape route from the rear, the man ignited something in the car which exploded into flames.'

Smyrna teacher charged with sexual abuse
    By: robin brown

A former Smyrna High School teacher and coach, who resigned while under investigation, was charged Friday after investigators say she performed oral sex on a 17-year-old boy inside her classroom after school.

Jennifer J. Suarez, 37, of the 100 block of Huntfield Drive in Smyrna, was arrested about 1 p.m. Friday, Smyrna police said. She was charged with first-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust and released after posting $20,000 secured bail.

The investigation of Suarez, a math teacher who became coach of the school's cross-country team in 2012, began in February, after an allegation of misconduct reached police.

"Students and staff brought it to the attention of the school resource officer after some rumors started surfacing," Senior Patrolman First Class Brandon L. Dunning said Friday night.

Dunning told The News Journal he cannot comment on messages exchanged by the teacher and student or an alleged "video of the encounter" mentioned in court documents. He said police would not release specifics of the allegations or evidence.

But the sworn document police filed in Justice of the Peace Court to support the charge against Suarez gave details, including that Suarez began telling the boy, a track and cross-country athlete, during his sophomore year that she "had feelings for him" and performed oral sex on him.

The two planned the Feb. 11 sexual contact, which occurred in her classroom after school as another student stood outside the room's closed door, the police affidavit said.

The victim, interviewed March 18 by police with his parents and attorney present, told investigators he was kicked off cross-country after he started dating a girl who also ran, but "the 'flirting' [with Suarez] continued off and on," the affidavit said.

At another point, it said, Suarez "attempted to have him disciplined again for remarks that ... [he] supposedly made about her."

"His parents made him apologize," police told the court, then Suarez "began messaging him again. At this point the two began making plans for a sexual encounter."

They agreed to meet in her room after track practice, police said, and discussed their plans at length during a school planning period. "After track practice, they went into her classroom and she gave him oral sex," the sworn police statement said.

Surveillance video confirmed they were in her room alone during the planning period and after the track practice, police told the court.

Surveillance video also showed another student "standing outside of the classroom during the time of the abuse" and he told police his understanding was that Suarez was performing oral sex on the other student as he stood by the door, the affidavit said.

Smyrna School District Superintendent Deborah Wicks told The News Journal that Suarez submitted her resignation to the school board at its April 16 meeting, effective immediately, but said she could not comment on the case.

"State and federal law prohibits the district from discussing confidential issue," she said Friday night. "Generally speaking, however, I can say that the district thoroughly investigates with the police allegations of employee misconduct."

Her arrest shocked the father of a student Suarez coached on track and cross-country at Chipman Middle School, who said her reputation was so good that students transferred schools for the opportunity to run under her guidance.

"We never saw anything remotely inappropriate with her interactions with the athletes," said Jim Westhoff, who works as a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation.

He called Suarez's arrest "very troubling news," adding that "those of us who know her are very upset about it."

Suarez coached his son, who then was undefeated in cross-country and the mile race, Westhoff said.

"She's an extraordinary person," he said. "She was able to show my son and his teammates their potential in amazing ways."

Suarez could not be reached for comment.

Although Smyrna Police Department investigators know of only the one instance of her having unlawful sexual contact with a minor, Dunning said, "the investigation is continuing."

Eight-year-old boy threatened with expulsion from school for drawing pictures of Halloween costumes that included guns or knives
    By ALEX GREIG

Parents in Scottsdale, Arizona have removed their children from school after the headmaster threatened to expel their eight-year-old son for drawing pictures of potential Halloween costumes.

The boy was a student at Scottsdale Country Day School when his parents were called to a meeting last week. The principal told the boy's parents that their child was a danger to other children and threatened to expel him over the pictures.

These imaginative passages usually feature the boy as the hero of his story. In one highlight passage, he escapes a zombie at a haunted school. 'I'd open the window, but stand back quickly. ? -trapped. Shoot the gadget - a rope gun - I'd swing across without getting hit.' Other entries in the journal are about saving the world from atom bombs and having the ability to stop bullets. Jeff told KPHO that the headmaster told him that he couldn't guarantee the safety of the other students around his son.

'In this situation, it's actually the principal of the school who bullied the parents - so much that we couldn't even be safe in that environment. 'I think we really send our children the wrong message when we show that, as adults, we're so afraid of our shadow that an innocent picture - that any 8-year-old might've drawn - is cause for this kind of concern,' Jeff told KPHO. He says his son has no history of violence or threatening other children. According to Scottsdale County Day School policy, drawings of weapons are grounds for expulsion. The school handbook states that grounds for expulsion include 'Any behavior that is deemed threatening such as violent behavior, drawings depicting weapons, blood, or aggression, or any verbal actions causing or threatening to cause harm to a person, group of persons, animal, or facility.'

Hero Bus Driver Stops to Save Woman from Jumping Off a Bridge

    By: NEETZAN ZIMMERMAN

Buffalo bus driver Darnell "Big Country" Barton says he only did what he felt he was supposed to do when he stopped his bus to rescue a woman threatening to jump from an overpass above the Scajaquada Expressway.
It was just another Friday afternoon for the public transportation employee who was heading south toward Buffalo State College with a bus full of McKinley High School students.

"It didn't seem real because what was going on around, traffic and pedestrians were going by as normal," Barton told WIVB, recalling the sight of a woman preparing to jump off the overpass's narrow ledge.

Security footage from inside the bus shows Barton pull the bus over and quickly walk up to the woman in an effort to grab her before she had a chance to do the unthinkable.

"She was distraught, she was distant, she was really disconnected," he said. "I grabbed her arm and put my arm around her and said 'Do you want to come on this side of the guardrail', and that was actually the first time she spoke to me she said yes."

After helping her over the guardrail, Barton sat with the woman until a counselor and a corrections officer who happened by offered to take over.

"Darnell won’t tell you this, but when he went back on his bus, the McKinley students gave him a round of applause," a Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority spokesman told the Buffalo News.

"I was supposed to be there for her at that moment and I was," said the humble Barton. "I wanted to convey that whatever it was, I'm going to help you through and it's not as serious as jumping onto the 198."

Elementary teacher told to stop writing on students after boy is sent home with 'B' on his forehead for not doing his homework
    By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

An elementary school teacher in Houston, Texas, has been warned by administrators to stop writing on his students.

The teacher, who hasn’t been named, works at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School and has allegedly left marks on students on several occasions using a marker pen.

The matter has come to a head after one parent, Victor Jimenez, was shocked when his 8-year-old son returned home with a ‘B’ written on his face.

The teacher left the mark because the second grader – who isn’t named - didn't complete his homework.

Victor Jimenez, who complained to school authorities, told KPRC that he doesn’t believe the teacher should be allowed to keep his job.

‘For me, he does not have any professionalism or ethics at all,’ said Jimenez. ‘I do not understand how he can continue being a teacher.’

According to Jimenez this isn’t an isolated incident. He said he was told by the school that several other students have had the same issue with the same teacher.

The Houston Independent School District released a statement on Monday in which they confirmed that administrators had met with the teacher and that he had confirmed the allegations.

‘Administrators launched an investigation and met with the teacher, who confirmed the report. The situation is being handled as a personnel matter, and the teacher has been directed to cease the practice,' said the HISD.

Food Blogger Brags About Using Guys to Fund Her Fancy Restaurant Habit
    http://restauranttipsfromaserialdater.tumblr.com/ask

    By: Neetzan Zimmerman

I can hear the script deal now: A cash-strapped "aspiring actress" and food blogger is being called a "manipulative sociopath" for devising a plan to date as many men as it takes to complete her fancy restaurant wish list.

Erin Wotherspoon, 24, of Toronto has been writing about her "venture into the maze of Toronto’s hottest resto nabes" on a Tumblr entitled "A Penniless Girl, Bad Dates & Plenty of Oysters." Though she has made no effort to hide her true intentions, Erin was officially "outed" late last week by a local nightlife magazine in a blurb outlining the lengths this "maneater" was willing to go to in order to check yet another "resto" off her 48-eatery "hit list." "And there isn’t too much she won’t do for a free gourmet meal," writes Toronto Life. "Masquerade as a practicing Jew in order to date guys on J-Date? Sure. ('I’d say my Hebrew is on the rougher side'). Target recent immigrants to avoid risking detection? Absolutely."

Speaking with a local radio station, Erin admitted to being aware that her serial dating is "not particularly nice," but insisted that "not all art or people expressing themselves [is] going to be nice." That last bit seems to have incurred the ire of Reddit's infamous army of men, which put out an APB on the OkCupid subreddit warning potential suitors to "watch out for this girl." One Ontario Redditor who claimed he had a firsthand experience with Erin said they had coffee together but he skipped out on the dinner she had planned "because she was boring." "[A]nd this, my male compatriots, is why you only ever do coffee on a first date, NEVER dinner," responded Redditor ? _AND_OFFENSIVE.

Erin took Reddit's cries of "female Tucker Max" in stride, writing on her blog, "This just in, sometimes women don’t have the best intentions." "Reality check?" she added, "Toronto gold diggers exist. Be afraid, be very afraid."

Despite being content for the time being with trolling her dates and the men's rights movement, Erin told AM640 she'd be "receptive" to Mr. Right if he happened to come along.

"But at this point I just keep meeting Mr. Unibrow," she said.

Amber Kraus, Science Teacher, Accused Of Sex With High School Student
An Illinois science teacher is accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with a student at the high school where she taught.

Amber Kraus, 30, is charged with criminal sexual assault of a victim between the ages of 13 and 17, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Lake County prosecutors say the science teacher admitted having sexual contact with the Grant High School student, but denies that they had sexual intercourse. The victim told police that the two had sex at Kraus' Grayslake, Ill., home, and exchanged inappropriate photos.

Kraus has since moved to Mundelein, Ill., according to the Lake County Sun-Times. She was released on $10,000 bond and must obey a curfew as a condition of her bail, in addition to avoiding contact with minors, including the victim. The teacher resigned from Grant High School, where she had taught for eight years, after the allegations came to light Oct. 9. In a letter to parents, school administrators called the case an "isolated incident that occurred away from campus and involved no other students," according to the Daily Herald.

Kraus is not the first Chicago-area teacher to face allegations of sex with a student this year. In August, a 39-year-old instructor at a vocational school in Chicago was arrested after she allegedly had sex in a parked car with a 17-year-old enrolled at the school.

Teacher banned for sex with pupil, 16, she seduced on Facebook (W/Pics)
    By: David Pilditch

Clare Horton, 33, slept with the 16-year-old at her home when he should have been studying for his GCSE exams. The mother-of-two sent messages to him on the networking site after posting sexy “selfie” photographs taken on a mobile. These included images of the design and technology teacher in a crop-top and a little black dress with a plunging neckline. A disciplinary hearing was told Mrs Horton, head of Year 11, met with the schoolboy for a revision “rendezvous” before driving him to her home for sex on the sofa. The boy, Pupil A, admitted to police he had sex with the teacher but didn’t want to press charges. Presenting officer Martin Jones told a conduct hearing: “The student, 16 at the time, was in Facebook contact with Mrs Horton.

“That led to them meeting up towards the end of the school year – he came to her home and slept there. Mrs Horton’s behaviour clearly amounted to a significant breach in the professional boundary between her and Pupil A. This constitutes misconduct.” A Professional Conduct Committee of the General Teaching Council of Wales heard “a number” of pupils had Facebook contact with the teacher, who had worked at Fitzalan High School in Leckwith, Cardiff, for 10 years.

She met the youngster in the town one afternoon in June last year and drove him to her home 20 miles away in Newport. It was alleged that, after having sex, Mrs Horton dropped him off at his home and then went to pick up her two young children. But the teacher, going through a bitter divorce at the time, denied having sex, saying they fell asleep for an hour. But rumours spread and the teacher told the headmistress she had “slept” with the boy before resigning. Mrs Horton admitted to the disciplinary hearing in Cardiff she committed “the ultimate sin”. But she added: “I was in an incredibly emotional state and sexual intercourse was the last thing on my mind.

“All I took from Pupil A was the hand of friendship. To be told I was anything other than ugly, fat, useless and worthless was a safety blanket that I foolishly used. “He was very kind and listened. I was just talking about what was going on with my ex-husband.” Police investigated the relationship but the Crown Prosecution Service took no action. Yet the hearing ruled Mrs Horton had an “inappropriate and sexual relationship” with the pupil. She was given an indefinite prohibition order and must wait two years before reapplying to teach. The panel said Mrs Horton’s claims that she did not have sex were “unconvincing”. Chairwoman Helene Mansfield added: “She displayed a lack of awareness of her responsibilities and abused a position of trust.”

Kids Have to Pay Hundreds of Thousands to Teacher They Called a "Perv"
    By: Gabrielle Bluestone

Three schoolgirls who falsely accused a California physical education teacher of being a "perv" who touched them inappropriately now owe the man nearly $400,000 in a defamation judgement, and one of the young girls — an eleven-year-old described as the "ringleader" — is also on the hook for punitive damages.

Forty-nine-year-old John Fischler filed a defamation suit after he was falsely accused of touching the young girls and peeking in their bathroom. Fischler was cleared of the charges by school officials and police, but declined to return to work due to a "poisonous atmosphere."

Opponents of the case said that awarding damages to Fischler would have a chilling effect on children voluntarily reporting abuse in the future. But the jury disagreed, awarding Fischler $362,653 in compensatory damages, and finding that the eleven-year-old acted with malice, making her and her family liable for punitive damages.

The jury will begin determining those punitive damages on Monday.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, the jury appeared to come down harder on the ringleader due to her "demeanor in court."
The demeanor of the "ringleader," now 14, appeared to have alienated the jury. She giggled often while testifying, and twice got off the witness stand, stood in front of the jury box and demonstrated a dance move and chant a school cheer. The jurors sat grim-faced without smiling.

In contrast, Fischler and his lawyer Robert Vantress were childhood friends, and Vantress argued the teacher's case with nearly humorless passion.

Hard on Hoes: Bad Review Edition... Woman Fined $3,500 For Writing Bad Review Of Business

A woman in Utah is facing a $3,500 fine (!!!!) after doing what pretty much most of us do when we have something to say about a business—leaving an online review.

In 2009, Jen Palmer's husband bought her some Christmas gifts from KlearGear.com. When the merchandise still hadn't arrived a month later, PayPal closed the transaction and refunded her money. Palmer tried to contact the company to inquire about the order, but couldn't get in touch with anyone. Frustrated, she wrote a critical review of the company on RipoffReport.com and moved on. OK, so far sounds pretty normal! Except, oh wait. ? .

Kleargear.com says Jen violated a non-disparagement clause. It turns out that, hidden within the terms of sale on Kleargear.com there is a clause that reads:

"In an effort to ensure fair and honest public feedback, and to prevent the publishing of libelous content in any form, your acceptance of this sales contract prohibits you from taking any action that negatively impacts kleargear.com, its reputation, products, services, management or employees."

The clause goes on to say if a consumer violates the contract they will have 72 hours to remove your post or face a $3500 fine. If that fine is not paid, the delinquency will be reported to the nation's credit bureaus.

"This is fraud," Jen said. "They're blackmailing us for telling the truth."

Palmer also says she tried to ask RipOffReport to remove the bad review, but they won't do it unless she pays them $2,000! WTF. Seriously, no. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL ? .

Palmer doesn't have the money to hire a lawyer to pursue the case, so now she's working with Experian to get the ding on her credit report removed. Hopefully, they are not batshit insane, too and will help this poor woman clear up this whole nightmare.

Although this does get me thinking, maybe it's not such a good idea to post all those angry diatribes on Yelp about the local KFC when they run out of ranch dipping sauce.

Drama teacher who asked pupil for sex, played 'who's a ? ?' with her class and got them to mime sex acts is struck off
    By LUKE SALKELD

A drama teacher who asked a 17-year-old boy for sex and played a game with pupils called Who’s a ? ? has been banned from teaching. Lindsay Black, 28, also urged sixth-formers to mime sexual acts at the Roman Catholic school where she taught, a disciplinary panel was told. She paid particular attention to a teenager who was performing in the school musical, and revealed to pupils that she fantasised about having sex in the drama class and cheating on her fiancé. Black sent text messages, emails and Facebook messages to the 17-year-old boy, asking him to meet up for sex. It was said the schoolboy, referred to as Pupil A, showed other pupils text messages from Black as he rehearsed for We Will Rock You, a show based on the songs of rock band Queen.

English teacher Abigail Watts said: ‘I heard comments from other pupils about Miss Black liking pupils and I asked what this meant. They said she had been Facebook messaging Pupil A – she told him she had a dream about them having sex.’ She added: ‘They had not met up but they had been talking about it.’ The hearing was told Black ‘flirted’ with the boy during lessons and sent him a message saying how she dreamt about him. The trained actress met the teenager while working on maternity cover at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic High School in Newport, South Wales. She contacted him on Facebook asking about his coursework – then began sending him messages talking about sex and alcohol.

Black told the boy she had a dream in which she performed a sex act on him, then asked him to meet up with her for sex. A Professional Conduct Committee of the General Teaching Council of Wales heard she even grilled the boy’s girlfriend about their relationship. The hearing was told that Black played a game in which she asked her sixth form class, ‘who’s a ? ?’ and made pupils stand up if they had not yet had sex. She also played a game named ‘I Have Never’ in which she would ask them if they had performed various sex acts. The hearing was told Black then encouraged the teenagers to mime sex acts and spent time talking to pupils about sex. When Black was confronted by the head of drama she told him it was just an exercise to get pupils ‘into character’.

Colleague Sandra Davies said: b that during drama classes Miss Black would talk about sex and she turned the lessons on to a sexual theme. She said she wanted to cheat on her fiancé once before getting married and that she fantasised about having sex on a table in the drama class. ‘They played a game called “I Have Never” where she would ask them things [about sex]. She would then get the pupils to act out the acts in question.’ The hearing in Cardiff was told how Pupil A’s academic performance had suffered as a result of the messages and he had to re-sit his AS levels. Black was interviewed by police following the allegations in 2011 but no further action was taken.

She later admitted engaging in inappropriate and sexually explicit conversations with a pupil via Facebook.

Black, who did not attend the hearing, denied talking to her class about sex and said the pupils had made up the allegations. But the panel found she had held discussions of an ‘inappropriate and sexually explicit nature’ with pupils. They found her actions amount to unacceptable professional conduct and banned her from teaching. Committee chairman Peter Williams said: ‘The conduct in question seriously affected pupils and was not an isolated lapse. Black’s actions are fundamentally incompatible with being a registered teacher.’ Black declined to comment at her house in Pontypridd after the hearing. Paul Bennett, chairman of governors at St Joseph’s RC High School, said: ‘The school takes allegations of unprofessional conduct very seriously and acts swiftly when such allegations are made.’

Lawmaker Wants Library to Lose Funding for Teaching 'Mexicans' English
    By: Neetzan Zimmerman

Residents of Louisiana's Lafourche Parish will vote this Saturday on a controversial ballot proposal to use money currently financing the local library system in order to construct a brand new $25 million jail. Lafourche Parish Council members support the measure, which will see the library lose $800,000 out of its $6.4 million budget every year for the next 30 years, but no local lawmaker is more supportive than Parish Council Chair Lindel Toups. Speaking with the Tri-Parish Times, Toups insisted that the library has "too much money," and the so-called "jail tax" proposal allows for the funding of a 540-bed jail without raising taxes on parish citizens.

But for Toups, defunding the library is a necessary measure, irrespective of the rededication of funds. "They’re teaching Mexicans how to speak English," he said, referring to one library's Hispanic-language section, Biblioteca Hispana. "Let that son of a ? go back to Mexico." "Mexicans" are the only ones "abusing" the system, per Toups. "There’s just so many things they’re doing that I don’t agree with," he said. "Them junkies and hippies and food stamps (recipients) and all, they use the library to look at drugs and food stamps (on the Internet). I see them do it.” According to the parish's "jail consultant," Mike LeBlanc of MWL Architects, the new jail is necessary in order to alleviate the overcrowding in the current jail, which is in a very poor state and is housing 145 inmates more than the 100 it was built to accommodate.

But Toups has what some might consider a conflict of interest in wanting to see a bigger, better jail built near the site of the old one. Toups' son and grandson were both incarcerated following a 2009 arrest on ? and other drug related charges. Library officials say the diversion of funds will severely impact the services provided by the system as cuts are made and the budget deficit balloons. A fact sheet released by the Lafourche Parish Public Library notes that some 43% percent of households in Lafourche Parish are not currently hooked up to the Internet and rely on the library for free Internet access.

Additionally, some 52% of all parish households are library card holders. "If you take $800,000 away from our budget every year for 30 years, that's $24 million," library system director Laura Sanders told WVUE. "We will have to make cuts."
