I'm not saying sit back.. But the larger picture to me isn't doing something that will last an hour.. I just want us to start doing things that will last.. Climbing that flag pole did nothing IMHO.. She looked celebratory to me like something was accomplished.. She's smiling.. I'm not smiling! My people are being killed out here! And that's just what's reported.. A massacre happened.. Couples getting guns reloaded on them! I'm not here for pole climbing and smiles!

Newsome is at work on her debut EP and recently released the song #STAYSTRONG: A LOVESONG TO FREEDOM FIGHTERS inspired by her experiences as an activist and organizer in the modern civil rights movement.

    http://www.breenewsome.com/#!about/c13dn

at least her song has context to what she's doing.
it's not like she's promoting songs Called, "tear the club up" or "back it up for daddy" in regard to her pulling the flag down. that would be the wrong time for that.

Senator Pinckney fought to take down that flag for decades......

And was successful in removing it from the same flagpole as the state flag......

Did she work with him or any of his organizers????

It seems like she just wants to go down as the girl who took down the flag......

Pro-Confederate flag rally held at S.C. Statehouse

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Several dozens supporters of the Confederate battle flag rallied Saturday at the South Carolina Statehouse, urging lawmakers to reject a call to remove the controversial banner from the grounds of the Capitol.

The rally came just hours after an activist climbed the pole where the flag flies and removed it. A new flag was put in its place within an hour.

The rally was not in response to that incident, having been planned since late in the week.

The supporters argued that they believe a majority of people in the state want the flag to remain where it is. To remove it, they said, would be to go against the will of the people.

Ryan Hughes, one of those who attended, said flag opponents aren't taking the symbol's representation of Southern history into account.

"They are wrong," Hughes said. "They need a history lesson. They need to go back and look at what this flag really stands for, and that is states rights. That's freedom from tyranny. That's freedom from subjugation from the federal government."

Several anti-flag demonstrators where there as well and debated the flag proponents. While the discussion at times got heated, it remained civil.

On Monday, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley called on lawmakers to remove the Confederate flag in response to the killing of nine people at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.

Investigators say the shooting was racially motivated, and pictures that surfaced online showed the alleged shooter posing with the Confederate flag.

So all of a sudden you can see the future? You can predict which actions will spur a movement, inspire someone to do something? Knock it off. Progress takes actions both large and small; complaining that an action is too "small" in your eyes is weak.

if she were to drop a "tear da club up" soon after, to get free promotion from the publicity shes getting, then that wouldnt be a good look.

Tamika Lewis, part of the “concerned citizens” group that supported the action, said she had hoped it would prompt state leaders to keep the flag down. Lewis said her group consists of North and South Carolina residents.

“We did not expect that it would be raised again,” Lewis said,

U don't support it by just saying its a good show , and then not watch it.

She took the flag down on the day of the funeral. They wouldn't even put the flag at half mast like the US flag after the terrorist attack. There was no better day to take the flag down nor was there time for talk since they were taking their sweat time. If she has a message behind it, more power to her. She's proactive more than i thought.

It was not at half-mast because blacks in S.C. fought to have it removed from the state flagpole to a memorial site.....

She took it down 6 days after the governor called to bring it down........

& a day after the funeral.......

The flag that she took down was confiscated and was replaced with a new flag by a black state employee in less than an hour..........
