Ok I never liked modern R&B I mean dudes like Teddy Pendergrass or Jeffrey Osbourne could sang and dey was like really popular in my daddy era.
These singers like Chris Brown and singers always sing about girls girls and girls and sex and its boring and like seriously please fix your voicebox,I cant stand Mindless Behavior or these boy singers.Personally I think New Edition did this because after 1984 there were no songs like "before I let go" by Frankie Beverly and Maze or "yearning for your love" by the Gap band by the mid 80's the industry was into boy groups or pretty singers or who could dance even if they didnt make good songs.
I also like Curtis Mayfield if you ever heard of him he was with the Impressions and he had these like 60's civil rights inspirational sounding songs ,but I also love hip hop especially from the 80's to early 90's but I wish soul music instead of becoming as I described industries didnt care about how you sing they wanted dancing and to sing about sex which is what R&B since the 1990's has sounded like, when did this decline was it New Edition cause I didn't like them its just they sounded corny.
I didn't like new jack swing or that poppy sounding songs I like soul not influence by electronics.

I feel the same way. i love old school soul/rnb songs. My grandpa would listen to all of that stuff when i was younger, Al Greene, Teddy, Curtis, Barry White, Isaac Hayes, BB King. this new ? sucks. but i guess thats what all genres of music do. they are new and awesome for a decade then someone has to come ? it up.

I prefer older R&B and I can't stand today's stuff but...ya'll really need to go listen to some more music if you think dudes singing with high pitched voices is a new thing. I mean most of the popular male artists in the 80s were on some super treble ? . Even a lot of the groups in the 60s and 70s had lead singers hitting high notes that a lot of these chicks can't get.

I think men and women used to sing good I mean you had Motown and even soul but modern girl groups are slutty and sing about one night stands.Disgracing soul music.

lol yo we need more girls ? on drake like this -
Mayne immature females wanting to hear this because back then those girls wanting the Christopher Williams looking boys and who could sing like them new edition boys these were young girls.
Also women used to sing better like Evelyn champagne instead of Ciara. -
It's not exactly a bass voice thing, these new ? just ain't funky enough no more. I ain't a vocal coach, but there is definitely something off about the majority of R&B artist today. A perfect example of a high pitched voice keeping it groovy.
Now compare this to anything R&B put on the radio in the last 3 years, excluding Prince. Ever since the late 90's these dudes ain't been bout it. -

I came to say this.
Last one I remember was dude from Pretty Ricky, and the only member to escape obscurity from that group was wack ass Pleasure P. These ? are only going to be areound as long as the fans allow them to.
That said, we got Frank Ocean and The Weeknd. And......I guess Miguel. -

curtis mayfield did not sing in a low voice, he's more like Smokey with a hell of alot more funk.
most male r&b singers these days sound like adolescent teenage boys. We need to bring that jodeci and dino from htown type sound back. just because your singing doesn't mean you don't have to sound like a grown man. -

but my thing is you can sing in a higher octave and still be a man about it there was singers back in the day that sung in high notes but it was still more soulful ie earth wind and fire. its just these rnb "singers" (if you can call them that) are too effiminate. lack of a father in their household coming up i assume -
