Yes.BIG found away to make east coast music cross over and sale. The impact of Ready To Die was huge. There are few ppl who can be lyrical and commercial.BIG is that blueprint. He was also super witty and had some very unorthodox rhyme patterns if you really listen. He could be simple, but he could also be very witty. He's in my top 5 because of skill and impact on the game.? still copying BIG and Puff's formula

Biggie did that? Or Diddy is responsible for that?

No, not at all. His stories were epic and have to be considered for that, but overall as a lyricist no.

An argument could be made for him, even though I can think 5 better lyricists. There's a lot of lyricists that don't have the range that Biggie did. Sure, they can rhyme a crazy amount of syllables and wow w/ effect. The difference is Biggie did a lot w/ less and still manage to have an affect. For example, he could still make club bangers and songs for females without sacrificing his skill. Those songs took him beyond just being a great mixtape rapper and had people on the floor, but the streets could still feel it. That's what I mean by affect vs. effect.

I'll admit the ic changed my view on B.I.G. and a lot of other rappers. Before the ic I never broke an emcee down to flow, lyrics, cadence, delivery, etc. it was if you could make me rewind your verse, you had bars. I always liked Biggie's flow and storytelling but not so much his lyrics.

the word is "sell" not "sale". Sell is a verb and sale is a noun.

I believe so. To be able to tell a story so vivid with the right about of description, dialogue and action u have to be lyrical.

Got A Story To Tell, My Downfall, Nobody Til Somebody Kills You, Kick In The Door, Juicy, Victory...are y'all ? serious? Biggie can easily be in anyone's top 5....
    Last Dayz lyrics:

    Who the ? wanna squeeze?
My Desert Ease make MC's freeze
You wakin up in cold sweats, they just dreams
You still apoligizin, analyzin, my size and your size and
realizin, a fist fight would be asinine
You just pop wines I must pop nines
Genuine steel piece, nozzle in your grill piece
You're shook up, two bricks, every cook up
We can hook up, all I see is the future
    Disrespect, I shoot ya
By the way, them bricks, get flipped weekly
Sold by soldiers that mix weed with the leak leak
    Die for a dollar ? , life ain't sweet
Play for keeps wet shirts with experts on the creep
I be the mob fiance, about to marry it
Illegal transactions in Farragut with Arabics
Why not, they fit twelve up in the bedroom
Imagine what they stash is like, make you a classic like
my first LP, beef with me is unhealthy
? around and get an ul-cer, loose your pulse or
collapsed lung, look how many gats I brung
For them homos, still doin promos
Break both your legs you're movin slow-mo, got shined to glow mo'
Nine hundred and ninety six grams, you need foe mo'
