So many great unique acts and projects have come from this hip hop collective. All their styles are so contrasting yet they mesh so well together from Smif-n-Wessun to Buckshot and everyone else. The ? is so Brooklyn. Yet they seemed to have flown under most people's radar over the past 2 decades. Where do you see their legacy in the grand scheme of things?? If you were to show someone 3-5 projects trying to put them on to Duck Down, which would this be?
This is an appreciation/discussion thread. So feel free to post whatever songs or videos you feel.

They epitomized the NY underground gutter sound of the '90's. That contract dispute messed up Blackmoon's momentum, BBC was Killin it. There style was the "cousin" to Wu-Tang's gritty sound. Sean P still carrying the torch, he's criminally slept on. Peeps need to praise him instead of Drake.

I always felt Steele was the most talented of the group, but Starang Wondah is my personal favorite.
-
they are an independent staple... they always put out quality for the most part... their roster is authentic hip hop...
they dont get enough credit for their "grind" which everyone seems to care about from other labels... -
Enta Da Stage, The Shinin, & Nocturnal need to be mandatory in any hiphop heads collection.

One of the greatest labels in hip-hop. Period.
Duck Down Records began in 1994. How many other independent labels from that time period still exist today?? How many of them are releasing music on a consistent basis? Probably count that number on one hand.
They set the current blueprint on how to run an independent label and be successful.

They are legends. I will say straight up while I got Love for Sean P. I am taking the Rockness monster to any battle, freestyle session and put him up against anyone. Sun is super nice.

Ah man, "Nocturnal" and "Enta Da Stage" are swwweeeeet!

i still remember when ? was really sitting down and debating boot camp vs. wu tang
at that time bootcamp had black moon album, smith n wesson album, heltah skeltah and OGC had just come out and ? was forming right for them
wu had the wu album, method man, ODB, rae and GZA
at this time i think it was neck and neck
around 1996
but then Wu came with ghostface album which was banging and they had that cappadonna joint on the dont be a meance soundtrack
but bootcamp came out with that bootcamp compliation album which was trash, and the OGC debut album was trash
then from then wu just ran with it
but for a good solid 12 months, from late 95 to late 96 i think it was really a neck-n neck debate
the queensbridge crew was in there too, kinda
if u consider mobb deep/nas to be together and ppl thought big noyd would do things plus CNN was in the wings
but obviously wu won
i think dru ha tried to do too much and was in over his head, wu tang and mobb deep had machines behind them
duck down was trying to do everything by themselves, i think that hurt them. -
Let's not forget they blessed One Nation with numerous tracks. They flew out to LA and stayed at Pac's crib in Calabasis, while recording "Brothaz At Arms", "Let's Fight", etc.
I ? with them dudes and Black Moon. -
One of the greatest crews of all time...They were all pretty sharp lyrically and had they're own charisma...
Heltah Skeltah's 1st album had me hooked... -
Enta Da Stage
Dah Shinin
Nocturnal
...still in heavy rotation. -

Also at the same time parts of the BCC had a falling out with Da Beatminerz so the BCC compliation and the second round of the BCC albums were not up to par on the beat side of things. -
I thought that Da Storm wasn't up to par of their first three crews debuts. It was good, just not THAT good.

I still got this on wax -
It's a shame that Pac died before he could sign Buckshot to Death Row East. Hip Hop would never be the same.
Even so, one of the greatest posses of all time.
Dah Shinin is the best record. Straight classic from beginning to end. -
the second greatest clique of all time! Enta da stage and Dah shining are mandatory hip hop classics and are both in my top 10 favorite albums of all time
-
What's funny is i was gonna make a BCC thread yesterday.
You know i had that Sean P joint "Mic Tyson" on rotation, such a great album from start to finish. Strong love for BCC. -
Much love To The Entire Duck Down Movement. Authentic Hip-Hop From The Gate.
