i can tell you passed high school history -
Magna carta is establishing new rules that will limit the king power.
The king here is corporate music world. New rules are internet. They limit the power of corporate companies that usually play the link between artists and fans/consumers.

The internet has been more of a curse than blessing to the music industry (business wise) in the form of piracy. For all the innovation of this album with Samsung, its still gonna leak online.
JayZ is as "corporate" as they come. So like @tompetrez3 said is he liberator or tyrant? -
This ? is ridiculous. How bout just make good music.

Jay z has a corporate business but is an independent artist.
What's happening now is what happened to Tapes back in the late 90s except that labels are not more in the picture. You just need to get a buzz on internet and get a platform to sell your music from.
Just look at mac miller and macklemore or whatever his name is.
Labels are not necessary any more. You just need a buzz and good timing, you need to learn how to market your brand.

You've made valid points more especially buzz for new artistes ..
Fact of the matter though is of all the ? here praising and hailng Jigga, only about 20% will actually cop that album. The rest will freely download
Afterall what's the point of copping when you got it saved on a hard drive? -
tom ford????
euro jay ain't going nowhere -

? Jay is a rapper, we're expecting music. What the ? Ya obsessive ass babbling about. -
? hate Jay so much they will be blinded by obvious intentions in favor of some elaborate plot.
He calls it magna carta because he aims to limit the powers of the record labels, distributors etc. Who are the kings and queens of the music biz.
Jay is not good at evoking deep emotions. However his concepts and the ideas are profound, he just often struggles to execute. That has always been his weakness as an emcee.
That being said, judging by what we've seen so far im confident that everyone who isnt a ramoant hater will enjoy this album. -

You are right and that's the reason why CDs will become like Vynils soon. Futur marketing in the music business will essentially rely on new technology such as cloud computing and electronic data. -

by giving all the power to another big corporation? how will anything change, it's just gonna be another "evil" running the industry then

What power? We dont know the ins and outs of the deal. But did they (samsung) have any creative influence, did they impose any time constraints on the album release dates?
There are many things a conventional lable will do to affect, control, and restrict artists. It would seem that this is not the case in this deal.
In life and im business its difficult to do everything yourself. An issue only arises when you're rely on someone/thing that is exploiting you or limitting the value of your product.
Niccas on here crucifying Jay for trying something new. What they should be doing is praising him. -
hov can technically make it look like he cutting out the record labels but he himself owns a label what about real indie artist who need a distribution deal, you think itunes isnt taking a cut to put a ? album out digitally there is no cutting out the middle man

so you think Samsung gave him a 20m deal simply because they like his music? I'm just not seeing that big a difference between a conventional label backing a album release, and a electronic giant doing the same.
You're right, we don't know the ins and outs, but believing they have no control at all over the product they are backing is simply naive

I clearly said "it would seem".
Neither of us know what whats. We can only guess. My point is that im sure most artists would like a little more freedom for their art.
This may provide that. When you're navigating uncharted waters, its trial and error. You're already declaring this pointless based on your limitted knowledge, whereas I am simply saying its a good thing hes trying something new. Not that its definitely tje answer. -
Damn shame Nas and Jay out having the time of their lives cool as ? , with all the ? ? behind them.
And yet some of y'all holding grudges still like scorn lovers. -

I didn't say it was pointless, only that I'm having a tough time seeing the difference. It's still released through a big company, who most likely have a lot to say regarding things such as release date, and probably somewhat on the content. At least to the same extent a regular label would have on a guy as big as Jay.
My whole point being: What new is it Jay is doing exactly? He's still releasing an album through a major corporation, just like he always has.
