So guys, I'm not really a TV watcher. I really only watch sports or critically acclaimed movies. I don't have time to waste with ? TV. That being said I will watch a very good series if I do my research on it. As of now, I'm caught up/finished with all of my TV series (Mad Men, House of Cards, Narcos, Power) and I'm looking to start a new one. I've identified some I'd like to get into but I need help deciding. Let me know your thoughts and suggestions of other shows that my fit my tastes based on the options.

P.S. for all these shows, I'd be starting from episode 1.

    The Sopranos
    Sopranos is the greatest.
Every character gets developed and the story gets better every season.

Breaking Bad would be my 2nd option.
Probably the most exciting but has a couple real annoying characters (jesse & skylar)

The Wire will probably get the most votes on here but season 2 is straight garbage. Nyquil ? .
I almost didnt even check season 3 but forced myself into it. Finished season 3 and stopped there.

Boardwalk was cool but took me some getting used to with the time period stuff.

    Never seen Daredevil or GOT

It depends on what movies you like, if you loved Lord of the Rings watch game of thrones. If you like Menace to Society, Juice, and paid in full watch the Wire. If you like Casino, Goodfellas watch the Sopranos. Etc...

I love menace ii society but wire wasnt that great to me.

It was more cop centered. I would compare it more to 1st 48 or law & order type shows

    The Wire
The Wire best show on your list by far. Season 5 was pretty weak compared to the first 4 but it's still good. Season 4 is the best tho.

The Sopranos would be 2nd. First 2 seasons are great, 3 & 4 are kinda weak, 5 is great because of Steve Buscemi, the rest is meh.

Boardwalk Empire 3rd. It's kinda hit and miss as a show overall, but it's a lot of damn good performances it.

Haven't seen Breaking Bad, Game or Thrones, or Daredevil.

Only one I watched so I voted for this.

    Gotham is another one mentioning.

Out of interest have you watched "Power"?

Season 3 starts mid July so you can easily watch the first two in time to catch up with the rest of us and join the forum.

    The Wire
The Wire has the best Season 1 out of all the shows listed but the weakest final season. And it has the most socio-political importance of......any show ever, arguably. Everything else on this list is pure entertainment but The Wire really educates people on how and why America is broken.

Breaking Bad gets more amazing each season and had the GOAT final season. The way everything comes to a head is epic.

at this point, Sopranos sorta is like 2pac - undeniable trailblazing GOATness on multiple levels, cultural icon, fans that will fistfight you, BUT some of it hasn't aged well IMHO and people gloss over the weaknesses.

Game of Thrones is basically one long dark fantasy movie with fantastic world-building, casting, swordfights, and dialogue.

Boardwalk Empire is a visually rich period piece but it can be slow paced and dull when Al Capone isn't murdering everyone in sight.

You literally made a tough ass list of shows to choose from. Lmao hell Daredevil is the new kid on the block and it is still on a path to GOAT level status.

Yep, I've seen Power, all caught up with that.

Current shows I'm caught up with:

House of Cards, Power, Narcos. Haven't gotten to season 5 of House of Lies but tbh, idk if I'll get to it. The last 2 seasons were kind of weak. I could only stomach it because the episodes are 30 mins.

Start with one of the older shows like The Wire or Soprano's they're from a different era so the pacing is different. Leave Breaking Bad or GOT they will ruin all other tv shows for you.

Daredevil is good but I dont think it should be on that list yet.

GoT almost lost me at the 1st ep until the last 5min..I'm like its gon' be some ? on this mf..
Binged watch three or four seasons immediately..

The 1st ep of wire didn't grab my attention enuff to want to continue watching but I might give it another go. I hear nothing but good things, on n off this site..

I caught a couple of episodes of sopranos in syndication a while back n it seemed like something I might enjoy so I might start watching it..

    Breaking Bad is a must-watch..

It didn't see the walking dead on the list. That's the 1st show I binged on Netflix. I admit it isn't the best show but at least watch the first cpl of episodes at least if u haven't already..

Like all those dream sequences, that people dissected to the bone about what they meant and in the end they meant jack ? except for 2 of em

Because they're the best out everything else will feel like shenanigans if you watch them first

    Which ones?

The dream episode when he was kevin finnerty was one of the best episodes. And he was in a coma which was the reason for it. Had tons of hidden meanings and was a trip.

My favorite episode of any tv show off all time is "Soprano Home Movies" in the final season.

The one when tony & bobby hangout at the lakehouse.

    Perfection

That whole coma ? was a waste of time and in the end really meant nothing. The only dreams Tony had that meant something was the talking fish and the Annette Bening one and we all know what followed after each.

The fight at the end was ok the rest was like watching paint dry, and I'm not the type needs action every 5secs. Season 6 part 2 was just boring til like the last 2/3 episodes.

I still think it's one of best shows ever. Even w/ all my critiques.

One thing I wonder is how the show would have been, had Nancy Marchand not passed away. Season 3 was supposed to be about Tony's mother possibly testifying against him, but they had to rewrite the whole season when she died.

Now I know you love the show but, even you gotta be smh when you see that terrible CGI scene w/ Tony and his "mother".

Yeah but it was also kind of necessary plus it was years ahead of its time I mean it looks just as good as Paul Walker's final scene in the last Fast and Furious movie neither look great but I mean it's served its purpose.
