The only thing Dre did was add a melody to his beats. Dre started it, Puff perfected it

Do you realize that ALL of Hip Hop was predicated on the DJ sampling old records?

Hopefully that isn't a serious question

Obviously producers sample, just depends on how they use those samples. Dre for instance early in his career sampled funk records and I'd say he did a great job capturing that funk sound and put a twist to it. Kanye on the other hand doesn't seem to change much from the original sample.

Also, I edited my previous post and added a few more points.

Dre as a producer is leagues ahead of kanye, his product is always Top quality, even his wack songs

Post anything thing within the LAST 2 YEARS Dre has produced that's mind blowing

    I'm eager to hear 'em

What exactly did Royce's manager say I've never actually been able to find out from anybody

His manger said he's seen Em sit Dre down in the studio and teach him about producing and music like Dre was a pupil. That ? Dre off. Dre went off on Royce and his manager, then it became Royce/manager vs Dre/Em/D12.

also i think people are gettin mixed up with producer and beatmaker

to me producer is the ? who has a vision from start to end, knows the sound he is lookin for, where he wants the hook, the bridge, drop outs, vocals, singing etc...

You can take a great song like California Luv and sit back and hear Dre's vision.....

I dont think Dre has produced anything mind blowing, but he mos def hasnt produced anything wack in the last 2 years

I was listening to Kush, which isnt a bad song, just that we expected 100 times better from Dre given we have waited so long....Kush was produced nicely, the beats on point, but for Dre standards its not mind blowing...he's put himself on such a pedestal that i dont think any man can cope with such demands

Kush is ight, i got it on the ipod when i'm liftin, gets me hype, i even got the instrumental without the vocals lol

I think Dre has caved into the pressure of ? puttin him on a pedestal

but his body of work to me is far ahead of any other producer if we are talkin hit records

    i didnt know that?

produce as in make the beat?

or produce as in not produce the song, i.e direct the song in the studio? overlook the recording process

Which makes KanYe ahead of him now

Because Yeezy delivers when the pressure is even higher eg Taylor Swift award jacking/MBDTF

I prefer a lot of producers beats over dre's nowadays

    kanye
    just blaze
    the inkredibles
    boi-1da
    justice league
    dj khalil
    no i.d.
    danja
    dj toomp
    alchemist
    and etc.

but that doesn't necessarily make them better

i think people are gettin beatmakers and producers mixed up

Justice League make fire ass beats, no doubt, but they have put there name on some wack songs from underground artists

Producer is someone who doesnt necessary make the beat, but someone who directs the song in the studio and makes a hit record

having a hot beat doesnt mean the song is goin to be hot...

yeah the mixing and the extra vocals also do that ,people don't really know what a producer is

Like someone here earlier said, 'Ye has even surpassed Dre in the double producer stakes as in directing other producers to create the sound he wants
