b-ball isnt that big in Jamaica homie.

What we like we excel at.

Baseball, Soccer and Boxing is bigger in Puerto Rico, but they made the Olympics in 2004. So what your point.

Bruh, stop it. Basketball didn't catch on in Jamaica until the early 2000s. Jamaica is a track, soccer, and cricket country, that's what's stressed in school and to our youth.

After all, the island is only 2.7 million people, the pool isn't that deep to feed all these different sports compared to America that has over 300 mil people. The fact that Jamaica can produce world class track and field and soccer players is amazing for a small island.

I give Puerto Rico a lot of respect for beating some of USA best athletes in 2004. Now that somwthing brag about. Unlike Jamacians that brag about beating USA 3rd tier athletes. Basketball is second thought in Puerto Rico just like Jamaica.

    Puerto Rico athletes>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jamaica athletes

How is it the biggest event in sports when the best athletes in the world don't even participate in it? Puerto Rico beat some of the best USA athletes in 2004. I can't say that about Jamaica.

watch out for that boy raushee warren in the boxing team, dude is gold medal favorite and will probably turn pro after the games.he worked with freddie roach before the olympics and hails from the same gym as adrien broner, who he is supposedly more talented than...
    here's a vid of dude:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATMrrd32dWA&feature=relmfu

i'm gonna get some tickets for the boxing events, cant wait for the olympics to start :)

Why isn't he pro already at 25? he's got pretty fast hands but just seems odd that by time he'll be pro he'll be close to 26 .... anyone know the reason for this?

the amateur boxing organisation started a World Series of Boxing like 2 years ago that allows you to take part in the olympics but still earn good money. The top earners make up to $300,000 a year, he is definitely one of them, if not the top earner.

plus he says he promised his mother to bring home gold after he didnt win 2x before, dunno about that one...

he fights in the lower weightclasses somewhere round 115, not too much money in that divisions. donaire makes something in the higher end of the six figure region per fight and he is the superstar in that ends of the game.

raushee will prolly turn pro after the olympics, promoters had him on their radar for years and if he medals the offers should be sufficient.

You are a ? if you think USA top athletes run track. USA top athletes are in the NBA and NFL. Nobody cares about running track in the USA when you can make 10's of millions dollars playing in the NBA and NFL. Only people who keep running track are those who wasn't good enough to play football or basketball.

2004 USA Basketball Team had some of the USA best athletic talent.

Both LeBron James and Allen Iverson could have played football. Allen Iverson was a High School All-American in football and Basketball. LeBron was one of the top football players in Ohio until he decided to only play basketball his senoir year. He was offered a football and basketbal sholarship by Ohio State.

Yeah, according to Topps, the ? that was running Track in High school, and breaking records, or somehow slower than their football counterparts who were also running track in HS.

And before you pull that "the football ? was doing two sports", most Track athletes do fuel sports as well.

The son of a track and field coach, Walter Dix competed at athletics meetings from a young age, specialising in sprinting and the long jump. His speed also translated well to the football field, and he often played the sport at school.[1] Dix was an accomplished high school runner: in his final year at Coral Springs High School in 2004 he recorded 10.28 seconds in the 100 meters, then third all-time on the Florida high school record list behind only Houston McTear and Curtis Johnson, and broke the 200 meters Florida high school record with 20.62 seconds. Aside from J-Mee Samuels' 10.28 seconds in the 100 m, these were the two fastest marks by a high school athlete that year.[2] Both these times were within the Olympic standard for the events. He competed at the US Olympic Trials in the 200 m, but did not progress beyond the heats stage.[3]

Yeah, sure, keep thinking there are people in the NFL faster than a ? who is the second fastest 100m sprinter of all time in the sport of Track and Field. LOL, just LOL @ Tim Duncan, A.I., or LeBron being faster than any Pro sprinters. You got to be trolling.

We are talking Track, and in Track, speed is all that matters. (for the sprinters at least) There are also many Pro Track and Field athletes that played D1 college football, or had the opportunity to do so if they wanted.

So basically you're claiming that because someone has more athletic ability they must be faster. *facepalm* Other than that, there are different kinds of athletic ability. A Track pro may be fast as hell, and can jump (long jump) but they may not have good hands, and probably can't start and stop on a dime.(the main reason a lot of pro sprinters aren't in football)

The money Chris Johnson is making in the NFL is irrelevant, because his not fast enough to run with the big boys in Track anyway.

    Here is a better comparison.

Trindon Holiday had potential to go pro in Track, but he decided to go to the NFL instead. Him and Walter Dix often raced against each other.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trindon_Holliday He makes around 550k a year.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Dix Walter Dix makes 1 million a year, and ? and other sprinters were making even more than that in their prime.

I've heard people on youtube with the same argument as this guy "americas top athletes play other sports blah, blah blah"

It just comes down to some people being salty their country doesnt dominate everything.

Whats the excuse for the chinese in gymnastics....."americas best and most limber women are on ? or else we would rule" ?!

Chris Johnson in HS. uhh, nope. He wouldn't touch Bolt or ? , or anyone in the Olympic final for that matter. His not even the fastest ? in the NFL.

Johnson played high school football at Olympia High School in Orlando until breaking his leg his senior year. Johnson was also a track star at Olympia High. In his senior year, he finished second in the 100 metres at the 2004 Florida 4A state championships behind 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Walter Dix.[2] In addition, Johnson also finished his senior season posting personal bests of 10.50 (the nation's 10th fastest in 2004)[3] and 21.30 (the nation's 24th fastest in 2004) in the 100 metres and 200 metres respectively. His junior year he qualified for the finals of the Florida State meet with a preliminary time of 10.83. Walter Dix won the event with a 10.46 in the finals, Johnson placed 4th with a time of 10.66.

Considered only a two-star recruit by Rivals.com, Johnson was not ranked among the nation's top running back prospects in 2004.[4] He selected East Carolina over Eastern Kentucky and UConn.
