But in disturbing news, the unemployment rate for African Americans remains at 13.2 percent. Reports from March indicate that more than half of African-American men without a high school diploma are unemployed. Yet the nationwide rate for those without high school diplomas is just 11.6 percent.
Last year, in an interview with The Root, as black unemployment hovered near the 14 percent mark, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), then chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, said that black Americans were giving President Obama a "pass" on poor handling of unemployment within the community. "Well, I'm supposed to say he doesn't get a pass, but I'm not going to say that," he said. "Look, as the chair of the Black Caucus, I've got to tell you, we are always hesitant to criticize the president. With 14 percent [black] unemployment (pdf), if we had a white president, we'd be marching around the White House."

GOP senators block top Obama jobs initiative
http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/19/politics/senate-bring-jobs-home-bill-blocked
Senate Republicans on Thursday blocked the No.1 item on the president's congressional "to-do-list," refusing to allow a vote on a bill that would give tax breaks for companies that "insource" jobs to the U.S. from overseas while eliminating tax deductions for companies that move jobs abroad.
In voting against the bill, Republicans raised both substantive and procedural problems with the measure.
The bill fell four votes short of the 60 needed to bring it to debate, with 42 voting against it. Four GOP senators -- Scott Brown of Massachusetts, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine and Dean Heller of Nevada -- voted in favor of the bill.
With job creation the top issue this campaign season, and outsourcing being blamed as a big contributor to the high unemployment rate, Democrats saw the bill as an election-year winner. Sponsored by Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Michigan, who is running for reelection, the bill made it to the top of the "to-do list" for Congress President Barack Obama unveiled earlier this year.
The Bring Jobs Home Act would provide a 20% tax break for the costs of moving jobs back to the United States and would rescind business expense deductions available to companies that are associated with the cost of moving operations overseas. -

Senate GOP blocks $60B Obama infrastructure plan
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/washington/story/2011-11-03/obama-infrastructure-bill/51063852/1
Republicans in the Senate have killed legislation sponsored by President Obama to spend $60 billion on building and repairing roads, rail lines and other infrastructure to help kick-start the sluggish economy
The 51-49 vote fell well short of the 60 votes required under Senate procedures to start work on the bill. The infrastructure measure is the third in a string of Senate defeats for Obama's stimulus-style jobs agenda, which would be financed by a tax surcharge on the very wealthy. -

Agreed, it's like some people on this board don't understand how Congress works and they operate under this impression that no other people in Washington can be held accountable towards putting people back to work except the President. Cause if Obama just executive ordered his way pass the Congress the same Republicans ? in Congress and Fox News would be yelling impeachment because Obama is acting like a King.

then willfully ignorant
here in the US we have this group of folks called "Congress"
that $60 billion bill Obama sent to them to approve on building and repairing roads, rail lines and other infrastructure
in this country would have put many qualified people in African American communities to work in good paying jobs. (unless you feel the UNQUALIFIED should be rewarded also??? )
regardless of how the last president acted without Congressional approval and what the Rush Limbaughs, Glenn Becks, and Micheal Savages say, Obama has more then been disproved he is not a "tyrannical dictator" by the number of times he's been blocked/ obstructed by Republicans in Congress.
Let's be clear......
this is not my opinion.

You can believe whatever ? ? you wanna believe but it's blatantly obvious to anyone who's not a standard bearer for the Republican party that the only way that Obama is going to get anything on his agenda passed is if Nancy Pelosi becomes House speaker again.

? blame Obama and the government for their shortcomings way to much.
President Obama isnt some magic ? thats going to make you educate yourself nor is he going to make you have work ethic and skills to aquire certain skills that will yield a higher paying career.
A lot of Black Americans have failed themselves with this old woe is me attitude.
The government already provides federal funding for loans and grants for one to educate themselves and also housing, food services, and money for those little to no income individuals.
It comes a time a ? has to look in the mirror and say what can I do to better myself and improve my situation.
Nobody owes you ? in this world and no one is going to do more for you than you do for yourself.
You want to improve your situation start with self evaluation. -

Yes...... He could do betterIuno fam..... to turn around a $15 trillion dollar economy ? You aint turning that around overnight, it is not an easy task but over a period of years ? No problem. Unemployment is down significantly & on the feds news today, the stock market surged past 15000 points for the first time ever. America is a country with a format that works, since 1776, the saying has held strong that America's best years are ahead of it. If he could do better man I'm sure he would. The economy is Obama's biggest problem right now.
I feel you......
However......
But in disturbing news, the unemployment rate for African Americans remains at 13.2 percent. Reports from March indicate that more than half of African-American men without a high school diploma are unemployed. Yet the nationwide rate for those without high school diplomas is just 11.6 percent.

Bruh if a ? is struggling about 90 percent of the time that ? has no further to look than the mirror to see the source of his problems.
I don't knock any ? or broads method to making money or getting ahead as long as they not killing anyone there is to much opportunity in this world for ? not to make money and create a better life for themselves.
I hear to many ? complain about help the argument is tired as ? .
Does the government do as much as they could to help Blacks?
The answer is no, but should that stop the majority of us from making a decent living for ourselves no.
Suck that ? up take your ass to school and learn a trade or something.
School not for you fine get a hustle that is for you and perfect that ? and make it work for you.
I don't care if you Black, White, or of another race if you not at the station you seek to be in life it's probably your fault.
