Cleveland Browns Offered 4th Round Pick For QB Kirk Cousins
Even though Brian Hoyer wasn’t bad in 2013 and they drafted Johnny Manziel last offseason, the Cleveland Browns clearly weren’t that happy about their quarterback situation going into the 2014 season. It was reported that before the 2014 season, the Browns called up the Washington Redskins about the availability of Kirk Cousins.
After all, the logic of trading for Cousins made sense considering Kyle Shanahan was his offensive coordinator in 2013 in Washington where Cousins did have some success when he started.
According to the Washington Post, the Browns offered a fourth-round pick for Cousins.
Although it may not sound that far-fetched, trading a fourth-round pick is serious in today’s NFL. A fourth-round pick is a mid-round pick and it has a ton of value and implications towards team’s draft boards. Despite that, the Browns were in desperate need of a quarterback and Cousins, at the time, seemed to fit the bill.
However, based on what was seen in 2014, Cousins really doesn’t seem to have a future as a starting quarterback at the professional level.
This attempt by the Browns, though, just goes to show that when teams are desperate to fill a position, especially a position as meaningful as the quarterback one, they will do whatever they can and whatever they have to do to fill that position.
In comparison to what the Redskins wanted, instead of a fourth-round pick, the article would go on saying that the Redskins would’ve been willing to give up Cousins for a second-round pick. In 2014, when Robert Griffin III wasn’t playing well and the Redskins were already out of it, it wasn’t Cousins that improved his draft stock.
Instead, it was Colt McCoy that turned heads.
Now going into the 2015 season, Cousins will be entering the last year of his rookie contract. With Griffin III seemingly being the starter, it will be interesting to see whether the Redskins will look to move Cousins in exchange for a draft pick.
That draft pick may not be a fourth-round pick, but if there is a team that might be interested in him, that team could be the Browns as they still do not have a long-term option at the quarterback position. -

You don't need a 6 pack to do anything. But if your fat ass is walking around with no shirt on, somebody is going to talk about you regardless of what you do. -

Jameis Winston drops in on Jim Harbaugh for a visit
One of the reasons why the University of Michigan HIRED Jim Harbaugh as their head coach was the hope that he could get the school back in the business of developing quarterbacks for the NFL.
Harbaugh’s going to need some time to make that happen, but he has done some work this week with a quarterback who will be taken at or near the top of the draft. Florida State’s Jameis Winston has been in Ann Arbor for a few days along with his tutor George Whitfield (and Whitfield’s other pupil Bryce Petty of Baylor) and met with Harbaugh.
“It’s part of the process that will help him as he gets ready for the NFL,” Whitfield said, via USA Today. “We couldn’t ask for a better person for him to visit with right now than Jim Harbaugh. Who better to answer questions about what he’s about to face from teams and what he needs to know, than a man who only a few weeks ago was sitting across the desk asking those questions.”
Whitfield said the trip was also about acclimating Winston to the time zone and throwing indoors after recent workouts in the San Diego sunshine and “turning over every stone” while preparing for the draft. -
