consoles are the devil. Get unplugged from the matrix and build you a pc.

Real ? though, wanted to start this thread for a while b/c it seems like a lot of people are intrigued at building a rig, but for a variety of reasons, just havent done so. Hopefully other PC owners can contribute and help out.

Gon post some stuff in a lil bit

Behold - Project Christine..I like the premise, maybe one day we will see this a reality.

    http://techland.time.com/2014/01/09/razers-project-christine-desktop-pc-is-ambitous-and-possibly-vaporous/

Razer, which has produced some beautiful gaming laptops over the past few years, is now taking on the desktop PC with Project Christine.

Christine is a modular gaming desktop that aims to take the hassle out of upgrading. The base tower has liquid mineral-oil cooling built in, and lets users plug in each individual component, from the processor and motherboard to the storage drives and RAM. Each piece is specially packaged so it can slide right in, and users don’t have to mess with wiring or come in contact with the internal components.

At least, that’s how it works in theory.

As with Razer’s Edge gaming tablet, which first debuted under the name Project Fiona, Razer says it will only go through with Project Christine if there’s enough interest from the community. But this time, Razer didn’t bring a working prototype to CES. The company claims to have a prototype in its labs, but it’s pretty rough. The slick-looking tower on display at CES is just a mockup.

Even if Razer can show off a working product, there’s a bigger reason to be skeptical: Because each piece must be specially made to fit into the tower, Razer is going to need long-term support from Intel, AMD, Nvidia and other component vendors. The point of Project Christine is to let users easily upgrade over time, but those users risk getting stranded unless a large number of vendors make years-long commitments.

Razer co-founder and president Robert Krakoff admitted that it’s a massive undertaking, but he pointed out that Razer has built up lots of clout with component makers over the years, so he’s optimistic that Project Christine can get the support it needs. “If this was our first product, we couldn’t do it,” Krakoff said in an interview.

Still, I suspect Razer will need to prove to vendors that there’s already lots of interest in Project Christine. The company’s usual tactic of gathering Likes and comments on Facebook now seems more important than ever.

No OC, I appreciate people who like to push their hw to the max but I have never been into that. The MB Bios and MSI Apps come with some pretty nifty tools for doing that however including video card.

Nope! Excluding peripherals, you can get all this at Microcenter for $1380.00

Corsair Carbide Series 300R Mid-Tower ATX Gaming Computer Case - 70.00
    Corsair CX Series CX750 750 Watt ATX 12V Power Supply - 95.00
    Intel Core i7 4770K 3.5GHz Socket LGA 1150 Boxed Processor - 280.00
    MSI N760 HAWK NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 2048MB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card - 295.00
    Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL9 Dual Channel Desktop Memory - 140.00
    Western Digital WD Black 1TB 7,200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive WD1002FAEX - 100.00
    MSI DH-24AS 24x Internal DVD Burner - 35.00
    Samsung 840 EVO Series MZ-7TE120KW 120GB SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Solid State Dri 120.00
    (6) 120mm Blue LED Fan - 10.00 ea 60.00

With rebates, it was less but I don't have that info handy. I also practically stole the processor from them as it was about 295 when I bought it and 10 days later it dropped to 199! I called them and asked for a refund on the price change and I got it. The next day, it went back up to 295. I think it was an error I just happened to catch at the right time.

GeForce GTX Titan Black Edition and GTX 790 Specs Leaked

    videocardz-com-titan-black-790,S-H-419633-22.jpg

A report from VideoCardz.com indicates that Nvidia might be bringing out two new high-end graphics cards in the not-so-distant future. The cards in question are rumored to be the GTX Titan Black Edition along with the GTX 790. All of the following information is purely based on rumors though, so be sure to take it all with a grain of salt.

The specifications that are rumored for the GTX Titan Black Edition aren't particularly surprising. After the release of the GTX 780 Ti, where Nvidia brought us a fully-enabled GK110 GPU, it was just a matter of time before the GTX Titan would get a successor that would also have a fully-enabled GK110 GPU. VideoCardz.com predicts that the card will feature 2880 CUDA cores, 6 GB of GDDR5 graphics memory that will run over a 384-bit wide memory interface, and all with the same old TDP of 250 W.

The GTX 790 is a bit more surprising though. It is expected to be a dual-GPU graphics card, and is rumored to carry two GK110 GPUs. The GPUs would not be fully enabled, as Nvidia would want to keep its TDP below 300 W. VideoCardz.com expects each GPU aboard the card to have 2496 enabled CUDA cores, making a total of 4992 CUDA cores. Each GPU is also expected to be able to address 5 GB of GDDR5 graphics memory that would run over a 320-bit wide memory interface.

According to the report, the GTX Titan Black Edition is expected to cost $999 and will be released sometime next month. The GTX 790 is expected to cost more than $999 and may launch sometime in March, though a February launch is possible.
