On first listen: 7.9/10
C+ (I'll probably go up to a B- after second and third listen).
I think this album is better than J.Cole's new one. Getting ready to dodge bullets by the Cole-Stan Firing Squad for saying this. LOL!
Hopefully DWTW will not get slept on.
Another good project from TDE. Just speculating, but we'll probably see SZA in February/March and Jay Rock in April/May. That's everybody on the label within the last couple of years. So I guess we'll see a Kendrick album in the summer or be surprised with a Black Hippy album or the Kendrick/Cole project (Soul said it was in the works on The Breakfast Club). -
Evil genius goes. I love the second beat too
-

Love It mane (Fat Pat voice.). I would have to give it more listens, but on the first one, it's pretty damn good.
-

People are sleeping on the bars in this album.
Kind of makes you wonder where all the hip hop heads are around here. -

You can have all the bars in the world but if you cant make songs or a fluid body of work, few are going to be able to appreciate it. -

Thats what makes Soulo so dope tho. He got the ability to do both. He made it work w this album. Same as he did w control system....even going back to the long term tapes he had a concept to his ? .

Comparing the TDE album covers, Ab-Soul shows his eyes so he's the eyes of the group. ScHoolBoy Q is the face, Jay Rock is the hands and Kendrick's GKMC and TPAB makes him the mind...
Man that's so ? dope
Good observation. They like to do sneaky stuff like that, so you're probably right.
TPAB(Caterpillar) stands for 2Pac. I saw an interview where Kendrick wanted people to decipher it on their own, but the dudes from Dead End Hip-Hop figured it out and put it out there.
Hopefully we'll get that Black Hippy album within the next 100 years. -
Man I tried to give this ? a run...4 tracks in and I'm wondering why this fool can't catch the beat
-
The album is unashamedly commenting on themes related to Christian theology... a lot of mentions of Christ, creation and women's role on earth as humans
The album title too is somewhat biblical...
The ode to Ras Kass' 'Nature Of The Threat' was deep.
It's dark and gritty. Like it better than These Days but his best work is still undoubtedly Control System
4/5
