Waka Flocka is known for stirring up controversy, and his latest comments are sure to raise some eyebrows. The 31-year-old rapper stops by Sway in the Morning to discuss a slew of topics, revealing he does not identify as African-American.
While speaking with the hosts, Waka says his grandmothers once told him their background is Native American as well as European. Therefore, he does not call himself African-American.
“I’m not African-American at all,” Waka says around the 5-minute mark. “My folks is not from Africa. A lot of people in this room’s folks ain’t from Africa. Might be a couple, but people just don’t understand. I asked my grandma, ‘Yo grandma, what’s your background?’ She said ‘Red foot and black tail Indian.’ I said, ‘What?’ She said, ‘Yeah.’ My mother and my father, we 100% Indians.’ I asked my other grandmother, and we got Cherokee in us, and European and Italian. A little Dominican.”
Later on in the conversation, he says straight up, “I’m uneducated. I’m confused. But I’m damn sure not Black. You’re not gonna call me Black.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the Flockaveli 2 entertainer talks about his admiration for XXXTentacion at around the 11:15 mark. “That’s why you got [rappers like XXXTentacion] out here. People look at XXXTentacion like he’s crazy. That ? ’s a genius. He’s 19 years old.”
Waka also addresses NFL players taking a knee, and the reaction of the public and political figures since the outrage has become viral. Plus, he says his long-awaited Flockaveli 2 is dropping at the top of 2018.

I didn't listen to this one but I listened to his Hot97 I interview.
To those who didn't bother listening, what he means is that the idea of being black or African American exists solely in the United States. As someone who has traveled abroad, he's realized that the concept of race and nationality differs drastically from country to country, to the point where he doesn't feel constrained to the American standard of racial identity.
Nothing really to see here but a man who has experienced life beyond the boundaries of his Southern upbringing. -

Lmao Europe is waaay more racist than America.
Let him try that "I ain't black" with them neo- nazis -
I used to have a different opinion on this but I'm with him on this.
His lineage might not be from Africa. Hell, many of ours might not be from Africa and a lot of us are probably indigenous to this land of America.
I believe some of American blacks lineage is from Africa but definitely not all...and likely most of us are from here. We have been programmed to "accept" that we are all from Africa.
Personally, I believe the Brits and other Europeans just invaded and took over the land and it's people (forced them into ? ) with better weapons....and is likely why "Americans" are so antsy about "illegal immigrants" and "muslims" taking over....because THEY took over before.
