As far as the poll is concerned, i limited it to what i felt were the top 9 albums of 1996.
Honorable mentions:
Riding ? , UGK
The Coming, Busta Rhymes
Illadelph Halflife, The Roots
Beats, Rhymes and Life, ATCQ -
im going with jigga on this
-
1996 is my favorite year in Hip Hop.
I'm going with ATLiens or The Score. -
that was a good year. i went into the air force in 96 and remember damn near buying all those cds once i got out of basic training on the same day. my favs were reasonable doubt/hell on earth/ironman/illadelph half life. i remember mad skillz dropping from where/smooth da hustler/too short number 10 coming out also
-

IMO Legal Drug Money is the most underrated LP that year, but the best is AEOM
-
man u shud have only put one pac album, makes it difficult for me to pick one
-
i go with 7 days, aeom second and then IWW
lmao@ rd
nobody gave a ? about it den, ? hip hop revisionists -
Ironman. I remember taking trips OT blasting that. Hell on Earth due to P actually ? on Pac badly, while all the other ? folded. AEOM. Favorite double album of all time. RD. First time I heard Bring it On, I was getting my haircut in Flatbush. Then Regrets. Bought the album the same day. Ridiculous year.
-
AEOM first.. IWW second.. 7 Day Theory 3rd.
Reasonable Doubt last.
This was a great year for hip hop though. -
I was in a Wu zone then. ironman for sure, though I had most of them other Cds too. ? in Philly was trying to rhyme like that Rae/ghost ? lol.
-
I don't see how it could NOT be AEOM. "California Love", "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted", "Life Goes On", "Ambitizionz as a rider" all on the same album? Sheeeeeeeit!

I feel you, i think if Jay fell off after Vol. 1, then RD wouldn't be the classic that people claim to be. But it's still a great album nonetheless. RD isn't better than Legal Drug Money and Hell On Earth imo, even if it is, it's by a very slim margin. -
1. ATLiens
2. AEOM
3. The Score -
im going with ironman, rd iww, the score, hell on earth......
-
Dope remix, it can be found on the Don't Be A Menace To South Central Soundtrack...
Damn shame that original version of Dead Presidents wasn't on RD, it could have been a bonus at least.
"and my cerebral breeds the wickedest evil, thoughts that this sport'll feed you" -

real talk that ? did'nt go platinum till years later with
that said the killuminati the 7 day theory was easily the best album
that year the second best album was soul on ice by ras kass. -
A lesser known remix of Can't Knock The Hustle, only found on certain pressings of the album...I wish it was on the copy that i have, lol.
The Soul Controller was removed from later pressings to sample clearance issues, for those that copped Ironman after that song was removed...

Voted my five out of that group:

Yeah, likewise .
I really think P could have War'd with Pac better then Nas or Jay-Z could. (at that time)
Not only lyrically, but with Havocs legendary production too. -

he destroyed sickle p on when we ride on our enemies
and he destroyed mobb deep on against all odds. -
"Mobb Deep wonder why ? blowed them out. Next time grown folks talk, ? close your mouth"
Pac saw them as kids, like young ? , they hadnt earned stripes to go at him, when u go to war with a ? , makesure u studied his style
Anyways with the Nas beef dead, it was inventible Mobb Deep wud peace it up, that beef was pointless and served no purpose -
reasonable doubt but all eyes on me, it was written, 7th day theory, and iron man are close seconds
