@antarticp Like I said fam, to each his own, if I were an artist that's how I'd go about. As far as contracts go, Drake made 20 mil for 2-3 years straight according to forbes. He's likely in that $50-$60 million range easily. Apple gave him $19 mil for their deal this year - what I'm getting at is he doesn't "need" a major and IYRTITL proved it. The only reason Drake keeps the majors in his pocket is so that they can market him like a superstar across the world over multiple networks. Those are connections he doesn't have especially if he's also trying to do the R&B ? or get noms from the grammies and places like that.
I'm just saying if it were me I'd do it very differently.
hey i agree with you .. i was on some direct to consumer ish before they had a name for it ... just because its the future ... digial product ... versus physical product .... trust im with you ... i was just making sure you are aware that its alot of hard work ... which is the 1 phrase or 2 words most artist are afraid of HARD WORK .... lol #factz ... and it also may never equal platinum or multi plat success ... anything is possible ... so far the only person i believe did it was macklemoore ... and he not only wrapped in the white race but he also pulled in the ? community to pull that off ... id like see how he does overtime to see if those #s go up or go down ... similar to kendrick lamar ...... and since we talking Tech hes a great example cause i dont think he sales any good amount of records @ all ... his bread and butter is merch and touring ..... -

Drake's “Views From The 6” Release Date Apparently Announced
A new clip teases the forthcoming release from the rapper-singer.

Drake’s Views From The 6 album is scheduled for released January 6, 2016, according to a video posted in a tweet from Daily Rap yesterday (November 11).
The release date would be in sync with Drake’s line from What A Time To Be Alive cut “30 for 30 Freestyle.”
“But just know it’ll be January in no time,” Drake raps on the Noah “40” Shebib-produced cut.

Sonically and musically I think he needs this album to be a classic. A different sound too, it will be interesting to see what he comes up with. Who's ghostwriting etc, that snippet sounds like his old stuff, I hope he breaks that mould.

Timbaland Suggests He’s On ‘Views From The 6′

Drake TimbalandDrake, who’s very much alive, should be dropping Views From the 6 shortly.
There have been very few details about the album. But we got some in an interview with New York Mag, when Timbaland hinted some of his production may be featured on it.
Are you on Drake’s Views From the 6?
I could be.
That sounds like a yes to me?
I don’t know, who knows. [Laughs.] Ask him, he might tell you.
Sounds to us like Timba certainly recorded tracks for the project. That’s not all the super producer said about Drake:
“I ain’t trying to be competing with no Apple, but the flow of music runs through either me or Drake. I’d rather team up with people like Drake,” he said, adding “Drake is on everything. All that stuff I thought about five, six years ago. But what happened is life. Now I’m getting back to it, like, ‘Okay, you jumped the boat, but I started this.”
Later in the interview he said that he would also like to work with Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan and Migos, because him and those artists would be more “shocking” than him working with Drake. -
