That was a ? up situation all around. A young female in the 50s as a single mom who didn't even know the father, she was ahead of her time. That's like episode one of Maury. I know you hate Va but she wasn't completely wrong this time. It's going to be interesting watching her train the female doctor on how to use sex appeal to get that money.

Once again they're purposely vague about what exactly Ethan did to get Libby preg. This show likes to tease that one storyline.

i think it's obvious that ethan used masters' sperm & i'm pretty sure masters knows he did that cuz in that time there wouldn't have been any other way to get a man's sperm to freeze without his consent. but the way the conversation between him & libby went/was written, it came off like masters doesn't really know for sure how it happened. just that ethan was the doctor that oversaw it...which is pretty clever imo. plus he never wanted to be a dad in the first place so he's extra aggy cuz ethan backed him into a corner. but since he's the miserable ? that he is, he won't tell anyone that & used that "you're unprofessional" ? as a cover.
yea for once i agreed with masters on this...& ethically virginia was wrong, but morally i can't really argue against what she did. i look at it the same way i saw how she told libby masters was shooting blanks. yea she probly shouldn't have been loose lipped about that because it wasn't her place or her business...but libby was an innocent victim being manipulated like that & she deserved to know.That was a ? up situation all around. 1. Despite the initially creepy nature of their relationship in Masters of Sex, 15 years after the study began, Masters would leave his wife and marry Virginia Johnson, though they would divorce 20 years later in 1992, which also ended their academic relationship. Their sexual relationship began as part of their scientific research.

2. Over the course of the study, Masters and Johnson observed 10,000 complete cycles of sexual response, which has got to become numbing after a certain period. That has to be the equivalent of around 1,000 hours of Internet porn, which I suspect would be enough to turn anyone off of sex.
3. The two revolutionary books that came out of the studies, Human Sexual Response and Human Sexual Inadequacy, were best-sellers, translated in over 30 languages.
4. As reflected in the show, the study did, indeed, begin with prostitutes. One hundred and 45 prostitutes participated in the study before Masters and Johnson moved studying members of the community.
5. Included among the findings in Masters and Johnson’s study was scientific proof that men need a break after ? before they can orgasm again, while women need no such break and could have multiple orgasms. They also found that the rhythmic contractions of orgasms in both sexes occurring initially in 0.8 second intervals and then gradually slowing in both speed and intensity.
6. They also found that, though it takes longer to become aroused, older people age 70 and beyond were perfectly capable of intense orgasms and a healthy sexual life.
7. They also found that ? men — with little discussion — quickly managed to figure out who was top and who was bottom. Likewise, with no verbal communication, one partner in lesbian couples quickly assumed sexual control.
8. Between 1968 and 1977, Masters and Johnson treated homosexuality, which was considered abnormal at the time. They actually reported a 71 percent success rate in converting homosexuals into heterosexuals over a six year period, which — to me — calls into question their findings in other areas of sexual response. Virginia Johnson had major reservations with that study and, in fact, later revealed that she suspected Bill Masters may have fabricated some of the results.
9. Masters and Johnson were also pioneers in the field of sexual dysfunction, developing a form of rapid treatment psychotherapy with an 80 percent success rate. Before that time, treatment had a very low success rate.
10. Masters died in 2001 due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease, while Virginia Johnson died in July of this year, due to complications from several illnesses. He was 85 at the time of his death, while she was 88.

Boardwalk has so many characters though. I like both shows but I really only care about Libby, Ethan and Masters on this show. The cancer chick is cool too. I didn't think Masters would end up with Virginia.
I don't know if people know but this show is written by a woman. I think that has something to do with how Virginia is portrayed. Basically, as if she was a sex genius with the world's best ? . And that Masters was smart but lost without her.

yeah i've read alot of complaints about Virgina's depiction on the show. She was much more complicit in the relationship with Masters and they had an out right affair. I think the show bends over backwards to characterize Virgina as a modern woman 'stuck' in the past often leading to the negative characterization of everyone else around her.
I'm not gonna complain though cause its rare to have a show with a compelling female lead. -
Virginia is not really that compelling. the female doc trying to get her pap smear on his far more compelling.

^ I like the show too. I think they'll get maybe four seasons. I'm guessing Virginia will get more depth later. Right now her story consists of who's she having sex with. Would Cersei (sp) Lannister be considered a female lead? She's the only female story I can think of.

Carrie Marhison is a compelling, although frustrating at times, female lead.
Fargo had a female lead that was really good. -
masters ? up by showing the video footage..you have to ease people into that by showing them drawings first..asides from the racial prejudice/laws, the very rigid attitudes..living in that time seems like it was fun..talk to women anyway you want, drink on the job, etc

That season finale didn't really tie anything. Masters showing up Virginia's house like Taraji on Baby Boy was meh. I'm guessing this episode was about him being humbled. He'll probably be more sensitive next season. Don't know if that's a good thing for the show. -

The audio on all the copies of the finale online aren't in sync... Might try to wait a little longer to see if I can find a good copy then I'll give my thoughts on the season as a whole.
