He and Marcus Smart played on the USA U-19 team last summer and won gold. Both we're disruptive defenders(the duo were 1st and 2nd in steals) and allowed Billy Donovan to effectively play full-court press the whole tournament.
I am high on Payton his on ball defense is probably the best for his position, good in the pick and roll he just can't shoot that well. Dude racks up the steals too. He is Rondo like without the greater passing skills but he wants to be more of a scorer. I think you want to surround him with some shooters/ players that produce until his shot improves or hopes it does.

They both went at Exum. He hurt his ankle 2nd quarter so he played most of the game hurt and checked out early but here's how they matched up. Could someone post the link?

Marcus Smart is a better overall defender. Don't sleep on Aaron Kraft either -

Yeah Smart will clearly be better because of his ability to guard 1-3 and probably a few tweener 4's. I like Payton's defense on the pick and rolls they both are on another level defensively. Smart is just bigger and stronger so he can guard more players. -
Marcus Smart absolutely locked Dante Exum up on every single possession he guarded him, damn. That was impressive. -
Great drop. This vid further enhances my feeling he will NOT, absolutely not be a PG.
He's quick for his size, but not quick for a PG. Smaller guards would make it hell for him to set up the offense.
He can get by people, but in a street way. You need to get by people off first step and 1 move, not a Tyreke Evans-like handle that takes 3-4 seconds. -
You gotta be ? me

Embid will drop to atleast 6-7 now, two major injuries before the draft will scare ppl off.
Good news for everyone outside the top 3, bad news for the top 3. -
Who slides into the top 3?

Hell naw. From 1 to 7? Not a chance.
1. Rejoin my football league.
2. He had a fractured foot that needs surgery, and now has a history of injuries at 20 years old. -
With Oden so fresh in everyone's memory, I wouldn't be shocked to see Embiid free fall if this is indeed a serious foot injury.

Plus, bynum, ? noel hasn't played a game yet either. ......... -
Noel and embiid was a bad pair because both needs to be in the paint to score, now this, I just can't see the sixers taking another big that might ? out a year.

I wonder if the Cavs would be interested in trading back for Exum. I would give up both the 4th and 12th pick for the 1st. Hell I would even throw in Moe Harkless if they gave us Verejao or Tristan.

I don't care if that ? fractured his skull. If Embid falls to us at 4 we have to take that gamble. We are in a better position to gamble then the Cavs and Bucks.

International ball is a lot closer to NBA ball than college is. -

I think Utah would be willing to gamble too, don't think their sold on Kanter, think they move him this year, either that or they are locked in on Vonleh if he's there

Like I said in the other thread, I'll be cool with the Bulls drafting Adreian Payne with the 16 pick and with the 19 either Tyler Ennis, Elfrid Payton or TJ Warren
