BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Former NFL running back Lawrence Phillips has been charged with murder in the death of his cellmate at a Central California prison.
Phillips is suspected of killing 37-year-old Damion Soward at Kern Valley State Prison in April. Officials determined Soward was strangled.
The Kern County district attorney's office says the 40-year-old Phillips faces a first-degree murder charge.
Phillips was once one of the nation's top college football players at Nebraska. He played for the St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers during a three-year NFL career.
Phillips is serving a sentence of more than 31 years. He was convicted of choking his girlfriend and later of driving his car into three teens after a pickup football game.
KBAK-TV reports Phillips was ordered back to court Sept. 15.

I knew the name 'Soward' was familiar. The victim was a cousin of RJ Soward, 90s USC receiver dude was a beast, around the Keyshawn n Johnny Morton years -

The judges decision doesnt mean it was ? .. it means he made that decision i mean if thats the standard you want to go on....
at the end of the day his lies were worse than the deflation of the footballs its the principle -

there shouldn't have been an investigation to begin with. all this over some footballs maybe 1lb less than the standard.
goddell tried to prove that he isn't loyal to kraft and the pats. he wanted to prove a point he was gonna go hard on them, partly because he covered up the spy gate dirt which was way worse than this.
it backfired badly. it made him look stupid once again. this was a misdemeanor offense and he tried to make it as if it was a felony.
and u wanna talk about lies, goddell didn't have all the facts and was making up ? along the way.

It was a witch hunt in the first place, there was no evidence ever presented that Brady knew about the ? being tampered with, the suspension was never going to be upheld and the NFL knew that. All the NFL did was successfully get you to not talk about the concussion issue for a whole offseason. -
