With or without Beyonce's performance BLM, Police Brutality, etc is a hot button topic (as it should be) at every level. Political, grassroots etc. So, I don't see this one moment in time doing anything more or less for situation as it stands.

    Smh ? you're a hater

A quick search and this is what popped up BEFORE this year, concerning black celebrities using their "platform" to speak out and bring greater attention to social injustice

Without in checking whether threads were made here or on other black social media sites,
I'll bet many of the very same people criticizing and ridiculing Beyonce NOW,
have co-sign the ideal black celebrities need to do MORE to use their fame & platform for "the cause"

Ferguson Activists Call Out Black Celebrities for 'Saying Nothing'

    http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/videos/ferguson-activists-call-out-black-celebrities-for-saying-nothing-20141222
That level of commitment becomes particularly apparent when T-Dubb-O launches into an impassioned rant on the subject of black celebrities who, he believes, are standing by silent. "We got all these black athletes, black rappers, all these one-percents, record label owners, CEOs that's not saying nothing, that's not bringing nothing to the community. You're bleeding the community dry," he says. "The shoes we buy, the clothes we buy, the music we play, the videos we watch. You glorify being from the hood but do nothing for it. You glorify being from the trenches but do nothing for it. When they killing us, you stand by silent

Why Aren't More Celebrities Protesting Against Police Brutality?

    http://www.damemagazine.com/2014/12/10/why-arent-more-celebrities-protesting-against-police-brutality
For over a week now, I have been working on an essay that began as a harsh critique of celebrities’ lack of involvement in the #BlackLivesMatter and #ICantBreathe protests. The silence has been deafening. But in that time, a trickle of A-listers have started to emerge, like Jay Z and Beyoncé, Chris Rock, Dave Chappell, Samuel L. Jackson, John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigan, professional athletes like LeBron James, Derrick Rose, and the St. Louis Rams, who showed their support by raising up their hands (“Hands up. Don’t shoot”)—though it seems it has taken a bit of Twitter-shaming and time to get them to take a stand publicly. To convince them to use their platforms, their brands, their money to the movements around the country to bring awareness to racial injustice, particularly as it relates to police brutality and the subsequent lack of accountability

Should Black Celebrities Speak on Social Issues?
    http://melanoidnation.org/should-black-celebrities-speak-on-social-issues/
That isn’t necessarily a response someone would expect from an expert in regards to issues within the Black community. This statement was actually made by famous rapper Young Thug. While some may consider his comment offensive or even funny, it does bring up a good question: Should Black celebrities speak on the issues affecting the African American community?

There’s already a variety of famous Black people that speak on social issues pertaining to African Americans. Their comments, however, are usually only during periods of racial turmoil; specifically when Blacks are the victims of overt racism. The situations with Donald Sterling, Riley Cooper and Paula Deen are the first to come to many people’s mind. These celebrities usually criticize the racist briefly and then shift the conversation to the problem with Blacks. There are very few public figures who give genuine assessments of the problems within the community.

Today’s Top Black Artists Mostly Silent on Charleston Shooting
    http://www.clutchmagonline.com/2015/06/todays-top-black-artists-mostly-silent-on-charleston-shooting/
For the Black community, yesterday was a day of sadness and mourning. News that a young white gunman shot and killed 9 Black men and women in their place of worship— the historic Emanuel AME Church in Charleston— circulated tearing a gaping hole into the hearts of many Americans, Black and white alike.

But for Black entertainers, it was another day of business as usual. As the Black community continues to confront racism and hatred from not only the police force and judicial system, but average white citizens who are not only hyper vigilant but filled with hate for people of color, it is baffling that so many of these artist have not only remained silent about these issues, but even had the nerve to carry on with business as usual on some of the most historically tragic days America has faced in decades.

Why Are Rappers Like Jay Z, Kanye West & Eminem Quiet About Eric Garner?
    http://hiphopwired.com/2014/12/04/list-rappers-like-jay-z-kanye-west-eminem-quiet-eric-garner/
Killer Mike has been a smart and powerful voice expressing what so many in the Hip-Hop community feel when reacting to Ferguson on cable networks like CNN or in newspapers. J. Cole penned a heartfelt song about Mike Brown and was seen protesting in NYC last night in the wake of a grand jury failing to indict the cop that murdered Eric Garner.
But while Killer Mike and J. Cole and others are to be commended, why are so many rappers with even greater mainstream visibility—we’re looking right at you, Jay Z, Kanye West, and Eminem—so damn quiet?

? I Won’t Tell: Why Many Black Athletes/Entertainers Remain Silent on Social Justice Issues

    http://blackagendareport.com/black_athleltes_silent_on_social_justice_issues

We collectively cringe when they speak before the cameras: Black athletes and entertainers mouthing words designed to please racist white fans. “Why should any African/black person cheerlead for other African/black entertainers if they lack the moral courage to lend their voices to critical issues of social justice?”

Do Black Celebrities Have a Responsibility to Speak Out Against Injustice?

    http://www.essence.com/2015/05/06/essence-poll-celebrities-responsibility-speak-out-against-injustice
One by one, more and more celebrities are joining the fight for justice in Baltimore.
You have Jussie Smollett, who recently marched on the frontlines of a Justice League NYC protest for Freddie Gray. Then there is Jesse Williams, who is never one to shy away from social injustices. Last week, Wale paid a visit to a Baltimore high school hear how students were feeling toward the demonstrations plaguing their city, then he marched with them down to city hall.

The ‘New Black’ Mentality Is Causing More Harm Than Good, So Please Black Celebrities, Do Better

It wasn’t always like this. From Muhammad Ali to Sam Cooke and Ruby Dee and Maya Angelou, Black public figures who found themselves in the public eye used their celebrity status for activism. And yes, one can argue that at the height of social change in the 60s and 70s, of course we had these public figures.

But if you and I can barely go a day without hearing that some Black man or woman was killed or beaten in the streets, at a beach, in their neighborhood, in their home, in their sleep, etc., then it is quite apparent that activism from Black people and especially those who have voice and status, is necessary. The alternative is cowardice. The alternative is living on your knees, consumed by fear; afraid to continue the work of those whose blood, sweat and tears were shed so that future generations can endure.

The same way Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu gets a pass.

One is a perpetual mistress with multiple children by married men
and the other is a perpetual baby momma with children by multiple men

But both are held is the epitome of what black women should stride to be
(by the VERY same so-called conscious black people that are criticizing & ridiculing Beyonce, who by the way IS married to a black man, who IS the father of her child)

Damn never knew that about Lauryn Hill. I thought all her kids was by Marley son she married.

    Oh well

why are people so hung up on her hair color?

"is every ? with dreads for the cause? Is every ? with golds for the fall? Naw So don't get caught up in appearances." Outkast

That's just a weak cop out her critics are using trying to justify why they don't think she should get any props

Trust me,if she had a crew cut with jet black hair, these very same people would then find something else to discredit her with

"Uh,why she didn't invite Dr. Umar or Professor Griff on stage?!?! "angrily_smiley.gif
