I know we have some smart southern brothers on here that think differently but they are a minority.
How you gonna use a NY rapper as your example for southerners liking dumb rap? Y'all made the ? . You think VA is who put Cam on? You're telling me NY didn't support the Dipset movement back when Diplomatic Immunity was out? And at what point did the South stop ? with TI, and the north started?
NY ? with Dipset but they were never on top of the game. Dipset was ? with No Limit and Cash money. im from Harlem, Dipsets peak was over shadowed by G-unit
Don't change the bar from "We don't ? with them" to "They weren't the biggest group out" though.
they werent the biggest group out and i for sure didnt ? with them like that. they catered more to the south. and my point was, thats what kept them afloat. During that time, most new yorkers was on that cheap ? . bootlegging CDs and for the rappers that did sell well, they would blame white people and try to detach platinum rappers from the culture.

The day after I ordered a dipset t shirt, Mase comes out wit the diss. ? must've been lookin in my ebay cart.

I'm not sure but if 2Pac and Eric B started Death Row East and signed Greg Nice and Melle Mel they would have took over the whole East Coast.
They wasn't gonna take over ? .
Wasn't nobody really checking for Greg Nice and Melle Mel in 96/97

While I admit Nice & Smooth had some good songs in the late 80s and early 90s does anybody think they'd go platinum on Death Row East?
nope -

For me beefing with jay nas and 50 was a bad business move for him. This was right after he had his biggest album with come home with me, he had the people's attention, the potential to be a bigger artist was there as far as sales but when you beef with those 3 guys, they owned the NY market at the time, they all have cult following.their core fans that would have also bought cams records didn't because they weren't happy with cam dissing their fav rapper and I believe that affected him.
I gotta disagree. I don't think nas, Jay and 50 fanbase hated on Cam. He was too funny. Nas fans would gas up that house in Virginia line but that about it. Cam had that whole cuuurtttiiis thing and that phone call to 50 was hilarious. Then he got Jay on that "open toe sandals with jeans" on that intro. None them got at Cam like Mase did though.
Fans take ? personal sometimes..
Cam is more Corny than funny to me -

I 100% disagree with this opinion -
x the unknown wrote: »dipset > g-unit
In what category?
G-unit had better rappers
Sold more records collectively and individually
Yayo and Jimmy cancel each other out
Banks>>>>Jewel
50>>>>>Cam
As a gruop G-unit made more noise
Don't talk to me about dipset changed how people dress up cos that's complete nonsense -

Cosign.
I think Cam raps better than 50.
If 50 wasn't signed by Eminem and didn't get shot 9X he would have been another New York MC. Yeah he probably would have gone platinum, maybe even double plat but without the Dre/Eminem cosign he wouldn't have sold 7X plat.
Also I don't like the way 50 divided New York. Think of how many posse jams we missed out on between Nas, Jay, 50, Cam, Busta, Jadakiss, etc. -

South ? love cam because his lyrics are easy to understand. That ? booney ratatouille ? be having them jamming. They don’t like using their brain.

Well MC Hammer clearly outsold Eric B & Rakim so what's your point? -

shut your fake old ass "well mc hammer and vanilla ice" did this. Mc hammer and rakim wasnt even really the same Genre. and if you are as old as you say you are, you would know that MC hammer was dope in his own lane doing his thing. G-unit and Dipset made music for the same audience. so theyre in the same race. Why the ? am i putting a dance album to a ? gutter rap album.
you slow
to add on to what i said. yall ? stay changing the goal post. Cole and Kendrick outsells Drake and you all make fun of Drake. then when Drake does more, then numbers dont matter, mc hammer went diamond. stop being lame -
When we talkin about m.c.ing numbers DO NOT matter.
? outta here. -
THIRDSUPREME wrote: »When we talkin about m.c.ing numbers DO NOT matter.

numbers dont matter but when an artist you like sells, then it matters. numbers matter to an extent. if we talking rap skills then Dipset definitely does not compare to G-unit. -

Not to me.
For example.
If we compare
2pac and Nas, nobody really will ever bring up sales.
Or if we’re comparing jadakiss and Beans.
I don’t give a DAMN what they sold.
I only care who had the best body of work or who was the nicest.
Sales do not matter to me. I don’t see why they would. -
