The fact that in ep. 1 and then again in ep. 5 (worn away by time) they show that roadside billboard about the girl who went missing in '87 (but isn't mentioned in the Le Doux case) may mean something.
They definitely make some powerful red herrings in this story. I agree both detectives look very suspicious. How Marty's wife could miss or overlook him abusing his daughter though, I don't know, unless they're gonna reveal a hell of a lot of nasty ? about him and stupid ? about her very quickly. Cohle could go any which way, and that's why he's interesting. -

I liked it for 8 episodes you have to know why they really fell off. Plus it answers why Rust went off the grid.Plus He was going around asking questions making trouble.

I think this show takes the concept of flawed characters to a whole notha level smh...I knew soon as Rust was over for dinner in ep.1 that on the low the wife wanted his broodin ass to throw her tha D...brother detectives were NOT fooled by dis white ? 's lyin ass lol...Marty a cotdauymn mess. Fine ass young things axing him for it in tha ? and he just can't figure the cell technology but oh no, the wife all bout it smh hahaha. Marty gonna buy several rounds, beers AND bullets methinks...oh and peep the YELLOW tie on sleazy preacher man. He definitely got plenty to hide.
