Just saw it today...as a someone who only know the big publicity news about the group, the movie gave a new perspective on their contribution to racial stereotyping. Rodney king happened when I was 1 yrs old but to see that replay of it constantly throughout the movie was impactful. NWA were truly trailblazers. Much respect to the actors, and everyone involved.

Also, what happened with Ren and Yella? Did they become famous in their own rights after Eazy E?

I had no doubt once I saw F. Gary Gray was directing. Glad to say he didn't disappoint.
I especially liked how they weaved Parliament tracks into the background at various points. Songs that would eventually be sampled and define the G-Funk sound. -

Didnt show it in the movie, but Ren and DJ Yella stayed with Ruthless after Dr. Dre left. As you saw in the movie MC Ren was friends with Eazy before they did NWA so he stuck around out of loyalty to Eazy. Yella was the producer/DJ for them after NWA disbanded.
Ren was relatively successful. He released a couple Gold/Platinum albums on Ruthless but left the label in 1999. Yella just did producing and DJing and must have done pretty well for himself. -
Yella went on to host/produce Pornos. I remember his face plastered on a couple DVDs when i used to buy em, before free porn.

Even dude who played DOC held it down in a limited role n had the lil funny lines goin at Eazy
Ren didnt do ? . And its funny bc out of all the actors he was the 1 i had seen before. A main character on some TNT show, i wanna say Leverage -

Personality wise Ren the most low key ? out the group. Makes sense the character came out that way.
I would even say it's a personality "style" out here. We all know that ONE ? ... just be so low key and laid back even tho they all kinda crazy ? going on in they life, but you would never know until somebody else told you.
Your boy be like "man I stopped at Deron crib last night. I got to the door and 3 half nekkid bad ? walked out, I go in this ? sittin there in his draws and got 3 bricks of weed and and $150 thousand dollars in a duffle bag on the table."
Then you look at Deron and he just sittin there...

Man that Easy E scene bruh, ? was so hard to watch.
NWA impact on black culture is huge, from music, films, culture, etc. The family tree is insane and ALL them dudes were maaaaaad talented. From music, screenplay, acting, breaking talent, business deals, etc.

Funny I just watched the directors cut on Saturday this last weekend. Was my first time. That scene on the tour bus where yella was just watchin porn was hilarious. Then Ren was sitting next to him the whole time and you didn't see him.
Eazys death was sad af in the movie. Anyone know if dre and eazy really did reconnect? I thought they never spoke till after he died. -
