55% of the world is not a vast majority though, a huge part of Africa is animistic, polytheistic or Muslim. Many in South America worship death saints and others on top of Jesus, it's not as simple a picture as you say. Asia is definitely not a mostly Christian region and Christianity in Europe is dying in huge numbers.

No they are not atheists are shrinking in proportion to the whole population in other words atheists increase in raw numbers it's not fast enough to keep up with the religious population. Therefore there slice of the pie is smaller -
