I can upgrade now but ima wait until the galaxy 4 comes out

This is Go Keyboard, and no your phone doesn't have to be rooted. It let's you choose a pic to set as your keyboard background and you can also DL free themes.
Go Development makes a lot of good apps. I use their Keyboard, SMS, and Launcher. -

Better battery life you can mod your phone to rid of annoying ads. You can make the actually yours by putting whatever rom you want on it,
This is true. That said you can improve battery life and make the phone yours through usage of various apps without rooting. -

I peeped a few ads on the Google Play store app, ? asked me did I want a free Galaxy Note II.
With your post Cain & yours Monk, it seems you two have different methods to achieve the same goal. I'm new to this rooting demo, I will peep the vids later in. To root, or not to root?

It depends a lot on your phone really. I got a DNA now and I've pretty much loaded it up with a bunch of customization apps and a battery management app and it works like a charm and is fun to use. That said, it's a pretty powerful phone and can run all of that stuff without a hitch.
I'd assume that the SG3 can too. That said, if it doesn't, then rooting would be the other option. Honestly, if you have misgivings about rooting, just download a launcher and a good battery management app and play around with the phone til you have it just how you want it. If you do that and aren't satisfied, then try rooting. -
