Well that's encouraging news. I'm glad don mattrick and company realized how stupid that policy was. Not so much the used drm but the always online 24 hr connection. So its good they listened. Now the Xb1 is back on my purchasing list. Their exclusives are crazy. I can now enjoy ryse, titanfall, dead rising 3, and KI offline

*sighs*...yea, they were the "stupid" ones. *SMH*

    I can't even blame M$.

while i sure as hell can. ur exactly right they were idiotic for doing that. That was the only policy preventing me from getting one. Used drm I had no issue with. But as an IT specialist who travels through of rural terrain and also likes to take his console with him I'm failing to see how that scenario would've helped my situation

The policy wasn't "always online" it was "get online once every 24 hours or no gaming for you". It was the only policy that really bothered me as well. So much so that I wasn't willing to pay $500 for the thing and was going to wait on a price drop or any other way to get it for under $500 before I finally bought one. Now it's not an issue anymore. It kinda sucks cause I didn't mind the sharing policy tbh and I do sympathize with devs but at the same time the trade off will be that I no longer have to leave my XBO at home whenever I travel for months or weeks at a time.

ur right I should've clarified that. Thats what I was actually referring to. The connect once every 24 hr policy. And yes I too like u didn't have an issue with game sharing. Society is moving in the direction where physical media will soon be obsolete. Of course it will take a while for that to happen but its going in that direction. And I prefered not having to carry around physical copies of games where they can possibly get scratched and become unplayable

However you wanna twist and turn it. The people won this round. Consumers 1 - 0 Corporations
But it had nothing to do with the people. You had idiots like focus actually hoping that Sony would do the same thing. Imagine if they did then DRM would be the future. This proves that MS is a ? company because this time they could not bully their competitors and have their way. Anyone who supports MS is a ? chump point blank period. I can't believe the morons that took up for the whole DRM and always online thing to begin with.

You won't be saying that when even more game developing companies go bust and all your favourite games get cancelled.

Ok ........ but how is sharing a game with 10 people not hurting devs?

See, I think if M$ would've said no region lock and no used game restriction, they could've gotten away with the online check in. There were too many benefits and the world is already moving in that direction. Especially when they said yo phone could do the check because it was so small, broadband was never even required for the check in, but that tidbit got buried too.

Disagree ....... they could have said no used games and got away with it. It's the online check in and region lock really killed it. People understand the used game thing hurts the industry and would accept it, but the check in affects too many of their customers and its no fault of their own. Some of them have the means and can afford it, but the area they live in simply doesn't have it.

@ Karl how would companies go bust when they have not all these years? Any company that fails will fail regardless and all my favorite games are successful, both from Sony and third party so they are not going anywhere. Also MS has the right to re-implement these polices as any time, which I am sure they will.

the 10 game sharing thing would've been cool. definitely handy to share cuz I do have close friends across town and the country who are gamers. its like the gamesharing that PS3 has and ? like bcotton picker live through.

truthfully, none of the used games bs, nor the always on, bothered me. it was the check in or your ? dont work. MS couldve just done away with that and it wouldve been enough. but once again, they overdealt their hand and took away a lot of what was gonna make the Bone, for better or worse, truly different than the 4 and Wii U. I guess graphically, they could probably reach similar heights, but there would have truly been a difference between all 3 major players. that individuality could have led to a lot of innovation from all 3.

but the fact remains. the US (MS's main customers) are not ready for on always online console. We simply do not have the countrywide internet on this continent.

Ironically, the continent that DOES have the best internet, Asia, wasnt gonna see the Xbone anyway.

Not anyone I know. me and my bro always share games as we should be allowed to. I don't buy used games, but I do give games away and share games which DRM would have ended. That's like companies locking their movies which the movie industry is hit way harder than the gaming industry due to piracy.
Also if they drop game prices than people would not have to buy used games. MS was going to implement this ? without having cheaper games at retail so it had zero to do with anything other than their greed. Last thing is that games like COD and Halo have no problem selling and DRM would not make other games sell as good if people are not interested. The whole idea was bad and MS and their fanboys just need to keep it real.
I won't be buying this console, but I am happy that at least for the moment the people who knew nothing about it won't be caught in the trap that MS had laid out previously. Imagine some poor kid getting one on Christmas and not being able to play because of the mandatory internet or some casual fan buying the console and getting a sued game not realizing he could not just pop it in and play it. none of those policies were/are defensible period.

It's also been stated that when asked the question would drm policies be brought back on a later date Microsoft refused to answer... The big thing to know about Xbox one is the cloud service was meant to be a big thing for the Xbox one and was meant to help even out the ps4 and Xbox one. So how is this going to effect games?

lol @ people crying about the digital stuff that can't be done anymore. If that's really the case, then M$ is stupid because I don't see a reason why dropping DRM and 24 hour check-ins stops the digital sharing and all that. I'd also bet, that will become possible with the PS4 too considering digital downloads are already possible and common even on the PS3 let alone PS4 and Sony already allied with company that specializes in cloud based services. Wouldn't it be hilarious if M$ really did abandon all that stuff and Sony turns around and picks it up and makes it possible for everyone to do that stuff without the DRM restrictions?
