This
He didn't come up with a style that people ran with (Rakim)
He didn't come up with the hard hitting rhymes (Cube)
Multi syllables (Kool G)
Witty funny style (Kane)
Storytelling (slick Rick)
KRS did his famous battle with the juice crew and that's about it.
Would you believe it if I say he embodies ALL of those styles? Plus him and Chuck D brought in the conscious/knowledge of self steez. He also brought in the Reggae style influence in Hip Hop.
Stop it bruh...KRS is straight toilet bowl rings -
Nobody said Eazy E? Cool.

Ion bruh.
Eazy had character. Dude was prolly the dopest rapper ever with a Ghostwriter. No one could pull that off. Give those rhymes to KRs and watch everybody fall asleep -

I think KRS-1 was just ahead of his time for many on here.
Dude is one of the best MCs ever. Not a lot of radio hits but he had and has skills.
My philosophy
Love's gonna getcha (even this was a hit in the south - probably because the bassline)
Self-Destruction
You must learn
From the song titles alone you can tell he was on some other sh*t.
KRS schoolin these young nobodies in a cypher without even trying.
KRS starts @ 2:20

You never hear jazz heads beefing about who nicer with the horn wynton Marsalis or Miles Davis. Or rock heads telling the Stones to just retire. No them ? selling out stadiums right now.
Whats wrong with liking ice t, Wu tang and Too Short but also respecting the new school like Cole, Kendrick, or ASAP? I don't get it and until we figure it out hip hop is never gonna be fully respected entirely.
I agree that's Hip Hop fans for you. -
I never thought Ice was the best rapper, but he had some great songs early on.He's a pioneer and a G.
Krs been that dude and will always be. -
Jay Z for not making a solid album since The Blueprint which came out in 2001. 15 years ago
And making more terrible albums than any other rapper ever
Volume 2
Volume 3
The Dynasty
The Blueprint 2
Kindom Come
The Blueprint 3
Magna Carter Holy Grail
Lack of substance
Reliance on RnB singers to feature and do the hooks on his songs for hits and album sales and the RnB singers easily being the best part of the song and outshining him on the song easily
Producers that produce for him who's production be outshining any rapping he does on his album
-
Can anybody post these amazing KRS joints?
Idk where to start. I can tell you when I first heard Rakim, Chuck D, Kane, G Rap etc.
KRS was just never that nice to me but this was a small sample size.
Dude music just might not be for me but Ill give it a listen. -

My "shadyteam radar" is going off right now -
U know i despise rappity rap or let's say traditional rappers that just rap and are very lyrical, complex that just rap
A long time ago u made a post saying i love pop sounding hip hop i would call it melodic/experimental/artistic hip hop but u were spot on
As adults instead of bickering let's just leave at it we have different tastes
U listen to hip-hop for the word play, punchlines, double entendres, metaphors, rhyme schemes, multi's, similie's, complexity, The technicality and the skill of rapping u just want a rapper to rap
I listen to hip-hop for the song writing, melodies, emotion, catchiness, depth, relatability, crooning
It is nothing more than a matter of taste -

Thank you!! I wrote in the OP that people praise KRS and Ice but can NOT name one song or album that can actually back up why they're nice.
Trolling aside, my mission was accomplished. 7 pages in and no one has yet to post a dope song to prove me wrong. I can do that with my favorite artists but they can't -
Talking out they ass nh

Maybe he not your style idk but to me these are all dope records
He not as technical as Kane/Rakim but he a dope storyteller and was one of the first kicking knowledge, all while using multiple diff flows -
All these rappers over 40 regardless of location
