Chris Ivory got traded to the Jets for a 4th round pick.

Better then that 5th they offered us at first.

    Good thing we waited.

That 4th immediately got flipped to trade back into the third so we could take John Jenkins

I think the picks we've made so far a real good. Vaccaro can actually cover, Armstead ran a ? 4.71...? ridiculous for a OL. And please note...the Saints turn their small school OL into ProBowlers. They do more research on the OL for the draft than any other position. Jenkins is just a big beast. Hicks/Jenkins/Bunkley rotating at NT....now known as the #neckboneeatinmotherfuckers. Thats a big run stuffing line on paper:

    RE: Hicks/Coleman/Smith
    NT: Jenkins/Bunkley/Hicks
LE: Jordan/??? (maybe have Hicks and Smith play on the left sometimes)

We traded both both our 4ths to jump and get Jenkins in the 3rd....and I wouldn't be suprised if they jump back into the 4th.

New Orleans Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins knows his future is uncertain with Kenny Vaccaro on board

"I think you obviously have to take the time and you don't want to just go off on a whim and you (the Saints) really look at the situation," Jenkins said Friday afternoon. "When it comes to Coach Payton, I know he's going to do what's best for the team. I definitely support the pick because he's a good player and he's going to help the team."

"When it comes to me, it puts a little bit of uncertainty as far as the future, but nothing in this game is guaranteed. It's part of the business," Jenkins said. "But what is guaranteed is an opportunity that we have this year that we have. I know Coach Payton is a big believer in this, and I wholeheartedly agree that competition breeds excellence. The best years that we've had is when we have a lot of competition for positions."

"Being a first-rounder doesn't necessarily mean that he comes in and starts right away," Jenkins said. "I understand that. ... Then again, he could flourish. But at the end of the day, it's about the competition. I'm actually looking forward to adding that to our team. I think he's a very versatile player. Obviously, it still brings uncertainty for me from a long-term stand point. But for the short term, I think it brings a lot of depth and versatility to our defense and we can all agree that we're trying to improve."

"As far as my own situation even before the draft yesterday (Thursday), this year is big for me," Jenkins said. "I love this team. I really do, from the coaches to the players, and I recognize the quality of the organization. That's rare in this league. This is somewhere I want to stay. To me, it's not really about the contract. I really enjoy going to work everyday with this guys, but that's not the nature of this league. It's not always the norm. My approach going into the season is that I'm going to prepare as hard as I can and play and let it work itself out."

Malcolm Jenkins sounds like he's afraid or surprised by the team taking Kenny Vaccaro. Good ? ! Step yo ? game up or hit the road. Nobody got time for average, inconsistent play from you ? .

I'm not big on Vaccaro but he's better then what we had. His coverages skills is much better then Harper.

When ever we draft a OLinemen I'm good with that cuz our scouts are top notch with that.

And Jenkins in the middle. That size can't be teach. Perfect for playing NT in the 3-4

So far I like our draft and love what we did yesterday.

He do need to step his game up....cuz it ain't like IAQ ain't pushing for that other safety spot. Don't be surprised to see KV paired up with IAQ &Jenkins during preseason to see which pair is better. Harper probably be on the field strictly in the box on runnin downs. Pretty much know he's gone next offseason lol.

But for real I think Jenkins development took a major hit after Sharper left and he was thrown in there like he was Sharper. Sharper had that ability to cover the whole backfield leaving Harper to do the only thing he know how...blitz & run support. Then when he goes down They expect Jenkins to do the same but that's a unique talent only HOF caliber safeties have IMO.

You take pressure off Jenkins when the other safety can not only come down in the box but cover too. So to me this interview shoulda been with Harper not Jenkins. Plus Harper like 31.

I think Harper is a training camp casualty. No way he's going to get paid at that rate to be a part-time, situational player. He's TERRIBLE playing in the open-field on an island as a traditional defensive back. No way Ryan is going to waste his time and ? another year of team production trying to get him to be a cover safety in certain defensive sets with Vaccaro now on the roster.

    http://youtu.be/FD3VTrzG4yA

Still can't get this ? out of my head. Look how fast everyone else was moving compared to Harper on that play. Why the ? did he slow down before Garcon caught the ball when he KNEW Garcon was going to catch the ball? Str8 up embarrassing.

This Kenny Stills guy looks like he has some pretty good hands too. All of his catches appear to be with his hands and never his body. They say he is a good route runner too. Only weakness is that he can get jammed at the line when going against physical corners. Teams can get around that by motioning the receivers and stacking them alongside each other at the line of scrimmage. So that's not that big of a deal.

Not gonna lie I was heated at the Vaccaro pick @ 15 w/ Eric Reid and Jarvis Jones still available but I trust Rob Ryan knows how to scheme to use all our safeties effectively for a welcome change.

Armstead was a steal! We stay finding gems on the o-line. Hopefully Charles Brown can step up to lock down that LT spot, be effective, and stay healthy so we can polish up Armstead.

Jenkins got first round talent but his effort & bad technique caused his fall and we snagged him but I like how he will fit into the rotation and work his way to being the starting NT.

Stills was a good pick. Speed, good hands, and a decent route runner. Now with Morgan and Toon we got a nice youth movement at WR.

Johnson may turn out to be a late round gem. He dominated given his level of competition at Tarleton State. Hope he pans out and will be a welcome addition to our DE rotation.

Agree with those 2...but I think its gone be a real good battle between a lot of those guys for a spot. I think its a toss up with C. Thomas & Reddick. Really like both. Actually surprised Thomas didn't get drafted.

I think Kevin Reddick can challenge for a spot at inside linebacker. The only guarantee we got there is Curtis Lofton. Rest of them ? is on notice.

A few years down the road this past draft, with it being not so "star" heavy, is gonna make it painfully evident who the true talent evaluators are and with our picks and who we scooped as UDFA or who else we may bring in during mini camp really gonna show that we got some of the best in the business. Who Dat!?!

Saints have $3.1 million in cap space after the Chris Ivory trade

Following last week’s draft-day trade of running back Chris Ivory from the New Orleans Saints to the New York Jets, the Saints have a little more salary cap space.
According to figures from the NFLPA, the Saints now have $3.1 million in cap space. By sending Ivory to the Jets for a fourth-round pick, the Saints were able to save Ivory’s $2.023 million salary.
Since landing with the Jets, Ivory has signed a three-year, $10 million contract.
The Saints can spend some of their cap savings to sign a remaining free agent. They’ll also need about $1.6 million to $2 million in cap space to sign their rookies.
